42. Abel Johnson
was born in 1743 in England. He served in the Revolutionary War from Washington
county, Pennsylvania. Abel Johns(t)on was about a year old when his family emigrated
from England to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later (after his service in the
Revolutionary War) "The Johnsons owned a large estate in Brookes County,
West Virginia." He was married to Anne Alexander in 1794 in West Virginia.
"Several of the Johnsons lived in Brooks County, W. Va. and three settled
in Ohio." Refers particularly to the children of Abel and Anne (Alexander)
Johnson.
"The home of Abel Johnson & wife, Anne Alexander, was near Alexander,
Pa., or Wellaburg, W. Va. as was their daughter & son-in-law, Rachel Johnson
& William McCleary."
