He was born before May 10 1588. In the marriage register of the Walloon church
in Amsterdam, Philippe is listed as age 27 at his first marriage on 10 May 1615.
This would place his date of birth during the year preceding 10 May 1588. (According
to newsletter article by Ronald S. Taylor.) He resided at the "Wale pad"
or Walloon Avenue from Aug 1614 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He had lived there
for 3/4 year before he married Jacquemyne Noiret. He died in 1652. (According
to the Association of Descendents of Philippe du Trieux.) He died in 1653 in
New Amsterdam. (According to Cindy Owens.) He was also known as Philip de Truy.
Name generally used by the Dutch in New Netherlands. He was "a dresser
of plush or mock velvet". He was a Walloon. Walloons were Protestants
from the northeastern section of what is now France (near Belgium), but at the
time was under the dominion of the Spanish branch of the House of Austria. At
the time of his moving to Amsterdam to escape persecution as a protestant, Roubaix
(France) was within the portion of the Austrian Empire under the dominion of
the Spanish branch of the House of Austria. Holland, including Amsterdam and
Leyden, had broken free of the Spanish rule and offered unusual freedom, including
that of religion. He was engaged on Jul 17 1621 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
He was married to Susanna du Chesne on Aug 30 1621 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Listed as "Amsterdam, Holland". "The family left [Amsterdam]
for New Netherlands by ship on 30 Mar 1624 and arrived May or June 1624."
