I'm researching my family history and would appreciate your help. Your
new genealogy Web site shows that you are researching the history of the
RANDALL family. I'm researching RANDALLs who moved from Pembroke,
Plymouth Co., Mass. to Woodstock, Vt. and then to South Bristol, Ontario
County, New York.
My great-great-grandfather Jonathan / Johnathan / John HALL, born about
1813 in Chenango County, New York, is listed in the 1840 census of the
Town of South Bristol, Ontario County, New York. He married Caroline M.,
born about 1813 in Vermont. Children, born in Ontario County, New York:
Henry I. HALL, born about 1838.
Charles I. HALL, born about 1840.
Caroline M. HALL, born about 1844.
Jonathan HALL, born about 1846.
By 1849 the family moved to Cuba, Allegany County, New York, where their
daughter Mary M. HALL was born in about 1849.
The 1840 census of South Bristol, Ontario Co., N.Y., page 6, shows that
Jonathan HALL had several neighbors named COVEL, RANDALL and WOOD. The
IGI shows that several of them (or their fathers) were born in Pembroke,
Plymouth Co., Mass.:
Richard COVEL, born in 1790 in Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Mass., a son of
James COVELL and Mary RANDALL.
Thomas COVEL, born in 1791 in Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Mass., a son of
James COVELL and Mary RANDALL.
Franklin CROOKER, born 1793 in Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Mass., a son of
Noah CROOKER and Faith RANDALL.
Ephraim RANDALL, born 1796 in Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Mass., a son of
Ephraim RANDALL and Mercy.
Gaius RANDALL, born 1779 in Pembroke, Plymouth Co., Mass., a son of
Nathaniel RANDALL and Deborah STETSON.
"A History of Ontario County, New York" (1911), p. 477, says that James
COVEL moved from Woodstock, Vermont, to South Bristol in 1806 and was
soon followed by John WOOD. In about 1810 Ezra WOOD and Gaius RANDALL
also moved from Woodstock, Vermont, to South Bristol. Maybe Jonathan
HALL was related to the COVELs, RANDALLs and WOODs. Or Jonathan's first
wife Caroline M., born in Vermont in about 1813, could have been related
to them.
Do you know if Johnathan HALL or his first wife Caroline M. was related
to the RANDALL family? Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Rick
