                     THE CHEEVER FAMILY OF DRACUT, MASSACHUSETTS
       
       Ezekiel  and  Abigail  Cheever  of  Dracut  had  a  son  Nathaniel 
       Cheever, buried in  Dracut September 4, 1762.  Ezekiel Cheever had 
       a  brother who  also  resided in  Dracut who  had  a son  Ezekiel. 
       Nathaniel was the  executor of his brother's  estate. Ezekiel, son 
       of Ezekiel,  son of  Ezekiel was  executor of  Nathaniel's estate. 
       But as  yet, there  is no  direct evidence  of the  following John 
       Cheever's relationship with any of the above.
       
       I.   John Cheever, married Moley _____. They had issue:
            A.   John Cheever, born March 7, 1764.
            B.   Moley Cheever, born January 12, 1766.
            C.   Moses Cheever, born May 12, 1768. Married Polly Cutter  
                 on August 20, 1789. They had issue:
                 1.   Polly Cheever, born November 2, 1791.
                 2.   Moses Cheever, born May 20, 1793. Married on       
                      September 3, 1815 to Rachael Harris.
                 4.   John Cheever, born December 10, 1794. Married Mary 
                      Ann Homes Shipley of Londonderry, New              
                      Hampshire, filed int. February 19, 1826 in         
                      Chelmsford. They had issue:
                      a.   George Sumner Cheever, born June 12 or 14,    
                           1830 in Massachusetts. According to a         
                           biography of his son Edward, he was from      
                           Lowell, Massachusetts. Died January           
                           21, 1888 in Los Angeles, California. He was   
                           of Dracut, Massachusetts when he married in   
                           Westminster, Massachusetts on June 6, 1850    
                           [another record says 1868] to Lucy Marie      
                           Young, daughter of Orange Young and Lovina    
                           Baker.  She was born in Westminster,          
                           Massachusetts born June 6, 1833 and died in   
                           Los Angeles, California December 1, 1901.     
                           They had issue:
                           (I)  Edward A. Cheever, born January 30, 1869 
                                in New Haven, Connecticut. He was a      
                                printer in Los Angeles, California. He   
                                married Emma Louise Winter, the daughter 
                                of Karl Heinricke Winter and Wilhelmina  
                                Charlotte Reismeyer. She was born April  
                                22, 1871. They were married on Thursday  
                                evening, at 8:00 PM, March 8, 1894 by    
                                the Reverend Dr. Stein at the English    
                                Lutheran Church in Los Angeles,          
                                California. They had issue:
                                     (A)  Sumner Charles Cheever, born   
                                          June 15, 1896. He died in      
                                          World War II. He married on    
                                          January 11, 1924 to Violet     
                                          Lafin Kelly. There was no      
                                          issue.
                                     (B)  Marguerite Vivian Cheever,
                                          born  April  25,  1898  in  Los 
                                          Angeles,  California.  She  was 
                                          baptized  by the  Rev.  Herbert 
                                          J. Weaver  on May  28, 1906  in 
                                          Evangelican Lutheran  Church in 
                                          Los  Angeles,  California  with 
                                          Mrs. Minna  Winter, Ms.  Lillie 
                                          Ehlers, and  Mrs. Emma  Cheever 
                                          as  her   sponsors.  Marguerite 
                                          died  July  24,   1988  at  Mt. 
                                          Towers  Healthcare,   Cheyenne, 
                                          Laramie  County,  Wyoming.  She 
                                          was buried with  her husband in 
                                          Golden Gate  National Cemetery, 
                                          San  Bruno,  California,  South 
                                          Drive  [between   Second  Drive 
                                          East  and  Third   Drive  East, 
                                          Section   "T,"   Grave   number 
                                          2267.    She   married    Alvin 
                                          Sargent Hambly on  July 2 [some 
                                          records, even  Marguerite's say 
                                          July  21,   yet  the   marriage 
                                          certificate says July  2], 1923 
                                          in  Los   Angeles,  California. 
                                          The ceremony  was performed  by 
                                          W.  S. Dysinger,  "Minister  of 
                                          the  Gospel," in  the  presence 
                                          of  Harry   B.  Hambly.   Alvin 
                                          Sargent Hambly, was  the son of 
                                          Harry  Bishop Hambly  and  Nyna 
                                          Emma  Sargent.   He  was   born 
                                          August   27,   1894    in   San 
                                          Francisco, California  and died 
                                          July    10,   1957,    in    an 
                                          automobile accident on  the way 
                                          home from Plumas  County. He is 
                                          buried beneath his  wife in the 
                                          National  Cemetery, San  Bruno, 
                                          California.    Ensign     Alvin 
                                          Sargent  Hambly   "enlisted  in 
                                          the  Naval  Reserve   force  on 
                                          April  18, 1917  and was  first 
                                          stationed    at   San    Pedro, 
                                          California.   He   obtained   a 
                                          transfer  to  the   U.S.  Naval 
                                          Reserve  Flying  Corp  and  was 
                                          sent  to  San Diego,  Cal.  and 
                                          later   to  the   Massachusetts 
                                          Institute   of  Technology   at 
                                          Boston. Upon completion  of his 
                                          ground  training there  he  was 
                                          sent to Key West  Fla. later to 
                                          Miami  and  then  to  Pensacola 
                                          for flying instruction.  He was 
                                          commissioned   an   Ensign   on 
                                          November  8,  1918  and  is  at 
                                          present   [?]   instructor   of 
                                          flying   at  the   U.S.   Naval 
                                          Reserve    Air    Station    at 
                                          Pensacola,  Florida.   [From  a 
                                          hand-written     letter      on 
                                          Bancroft-Whitney        Company 
                                          stationery,  on  file   at  the 
                                          California Section,  California 
                                          State   Library,    Sacramento, 
                                          California in  'Biography info. 
                                          file.']"  He   was  Ensign   in 
                                          night  bombing  when  Armistice 
                                          was  signed  on   November  11, 
                                          1918.  He   stayed  as   flight 
                                          instructor for  one year.  They 
                                          had  two children.  For  issue,

                                     (C)  Lucille Wilhelmina Cheever,    
                                          born May 6, 1901. She married  
                                          on September 13, 1921 at       
                                          Annapolis, Maryland to Arthur  
                                          H. ("Speed") Graubart, born    
                                          December 8, 1901. No           
                                          issue.
                      b.   Joel Bradley Cheever, born December 25, 1833.
                      c.   Isabella Ann Cheever, born May 28, 1834.
                      d.   John Shipley Cheever, born May 6, 1827.

                      e.   Joseph Cutter Cheever, born April 13, 1828.
