       These notes were compiled from those  of S.B.G. Corser and printed 

       in [Most  of this information was  taken from The One  Hundred and 

       Fiftieth   Anniversary  of   the   Settlement   of  Boscawen   and 

       Webster...and Births Recorded on the  Town Records, Concord, N.H., 

       printed by the Republican Press Association, 1884.]

                                        

       

       JOHN CORSER, the first of the  name in Boscawen, New Hampshire was 

       born,  supposedly,  in  Scotland  about   1678.  He  was  probably 

       connected with  the family  of William Corser  of Boston  who came 

       over in  1635, some of whose  descendents in the female  line (the 

       family  of D.C.  Colesworthy, bookseller  on  Cornhill [in  1883]) 

       still reside in that City. Emigrating  to this country at an early 

       age,  he settled  in Newbury,  Massachusetts  and married  Tabitha 

       Kenny of Newbury on March 8, 1716  or 1717; he removed to Boscawen 

       in the early settlement of the  town (exact date not known), where 

       he  tended a  saw-mill till  disabled  by a  terrible accident  in 

       about  the  year  1745  (according   to  Prince's  History)  which 

       deprived him  of his  sight. He  lived for  many years  thereafter 

       with  his son  John  on  Corser Hill,  where  he  died at  a  very 

       advanced age in  the autumn of 1776. His wife  Tabitha is believed 

       to have  died in Newbury, prior  to his removal to  Boscawen. They 

       had the following children:

       

            I.   John  Corser, born about 1718;  he settled on a  farm in 

            Kingston,  New  Hampshire  and  afterwards  in  Chester,  New 

            Hampshire; he moved  to Boscawen in 1764,  locating on Corser 

            Hill, afterwards so  called, where he died about  1791 at the 

            age  of  73. He  married  twice.  First  to Jane  Nichols  of 

            Newbury, Massachusetts;  and then to  Mrs. Hepsibah  Chase of 

            Dunbarton, New Hampshire in 1789. John and Jane had issue:

            

                 A.   Thomas  Corser, born  1743, a  farmer; he  lived in 

                 Boscawen.  He married  twice,  first  to Ann  Dunlap  of 

                 Chester,  New  Hampshire;  and  secondly  to  Mrs.  Mary 

                 Downing of Kingston  in 1782; She died March  6, 1840 at 

                 the age  of 95; he  served in the  Ticonderoga campaign; 

                 he drowned in Long Pond on  December 11, 1829 at the age 

                 of 86. By Anne he had the following children:

                 

                      1.   James Corser, born November 11, 1764.

                      

                      2.   Polly  Corser, born  August 24,  1766; married 

                      John Fitz  Gerald on  November 16,  1786; they  had 

                      six children.

                      

                      3.   Jane Corser, born October  23, 1768 at age 52; 

                      died February 13, 1821; she  married David Call and 

                      had nine children.

                      

                      4.   Jonathan  Corser, born November 9,  1770; died 

                      November 30,  1821 at age  of 51; he  married Nancy 

                      Badger on May 31, 1792. Issue:

                      

                           a.   John Corser,

                           

                           b.    Gilmer Corser,  a  farmer of  Colebrook, 

                           New Hampshire.

                           

                           c.   a daughter

                           

                           d.   a daughter

                      

                      5.   Anna  Corser (or Nancy),  born June  15, 1773; 

                      married Jonathan  Downing of  Boscawen on  June 21, 

                      1792;  she was  killed by  lightening  on June  12, 

                      1816; they had eight children:

                      

                      6.   Thomas  Corser, born  May 12,  1775; moved  to 

                      Thetford,  Vermont;  married   Abigail  Holcomb  on 

                      October 8, 1798; they had issue:

                      

                           a.   Benjamin Corser

                           

                           b.   True Corser

                           

                           c.   Lavina Corser

                           

                           d.   Holcomb Corser

                      

                      7.   Sarah Corser, born March 17, 1777.

                      

                      8.    Tabitha  Corser,  born   September  7,  1779; 

                      married Nicholas Elliott, May 11, 1802.

                      

                      9.   Moses Corser, born September 25, 1781.

                      

                 By Mrs. Mary Downing, Thomas Corser had issue:

                 

                      10.   Elsey Corser,  born March 28, 1783;  she died 

                      September 12,  1843 at the  age of 60.  She married 

                      Amos  Thorla of  Boscawen  in  1803 and  had  seven 

                      children.

                      

                      11.   Caleb  Corser, born  September 3,  1785; died 

                      November 15, 1825 at age 40.

                      

                      12.    Dolly  Corser,  married  Josiah  Jackman  in 

                      1806; this family moved to Sandusky, Ohio

                      

                      13.   Miriam Corser, married  1st, Samuel Corser in 

                      1806; married 2nd, Samuel Roby in 1833.

                 

                 B.   Samuel Corser, born about 1746;  he was a farmer in 

                 Boscawen; he died  there on November 1, 1826  at the age 

                 of 80;  he married  twice, first  to Sarah  Fitz Gerald.

                 C.   Jonathan Corser, born about 1747.

                 

                 D.    David Corser,  born  in  Kingston, New  Hampshire, 

                 January 27, 1754.

                 

                 E.    Jane  Corser,  born  January,  1756  and  died  in 

                 Michigan on  December 23, 1836 at  the age of  80 years; 

                 she  married in  1772, Nathan  Davis of  Conway and  had 

                 seven children.

                 

                 F.   William Corser, born about 1758.

                 

                 G.   Abbyneezer Corser, born about  1760; she married in 

                 1775, Lieut. Edward Fitz Gerald  of Boscawen who died on 

                 December 11, 1817 at the age  of 66. She died on October 

                 11, 1836 at age 76. They had fifteen (15) children.

                 

                 H.    Molly Corser.  Molly  was  born in  Boscawen,  New 

                 Hampshire on  May 24,  1765. She  married Captain  Silas 

                 Call  of  Boscawen on  February  9,  1785. She  died  on 

                 October  11,  1839  at  the age  of  74.  They  had  ten 

                 children.

            

            II.    Nathan Corser,  married Susan  Danforth;  they had  no 

            children; He  died about  1800; his  widow died  in Thetford, 

            Vermont.

            

            III.   Tabitha Corser,  married Peter Flood of  Boscawen, New 

            Hampshire.

            

            IV.  Polly Corser, married Ezekiel  Flanders of Kingston, New 

            Hampshire.

            

            V.    Sarah Corser,  married Samuel  Davis  of Boscawen,  New 

            Hampshire.

            

            VI.   William  Corser, died about  1730, married  Anne Carter 

            of Boscawen. He  was drowned, with his son, in  Great Pond in 

            1773. His issue:

            

                 A.   Asa Corser, born 26, June, 1754.

                 

                 B.    William Corser  (or Jesse)  born  April 16,  1756, 

                 drowned with his father in Great Pond in 1773.

                 

                 C.    Mary Corser,  born  August 4,  1759;  she died  on 

                 April  14,  1834;  married  in 1779  to  James  Uran  of 

                 Boscawen who  died on November  18, 1845; they  had four 

                 children:

                 

                      1.    Hannah  Uran,  born December  4,  1779;  died 

                      September 16, 1853.

                      

                      2.   Samuel  Uran, born  July 16,  1781; died  June 

                      22, 1828.

                      

                      3.   Anna Uran, born January  16, 1787; died August 

                      3, 1821.

                      

                      4.   Molly Uran, born June  13, 1789; died April 8, 

                      1818

                 

                 D.   Simeon Corser, born July 10, 1763.

                 

                 E.    Judith  Corser,  born January  29,  1766;  married 

                 Philander Carter of Canterbury, New Hampshire.

                 

                 F.   Anne Corser, born February 21, 1771.
