Quiet Solitudes
by
David Redmond
In the quiet solitude of the
night
I wait to hear from the Lord
of Light
Asking, seeking, knocking,
I labor
Answer me Lord, with the truth
of your sabre
Hearken O'Lord, please hear
my cry
My heart feels so empty, I
just want to die
Cleanse me and fill me, banish
my fear
Strengthen my heart and make
me to hear
What is your voice like? I'm
filled with wonder
Is it loud, do you roar, do
you make it to thunder?
Will I cower and tremble, filled
with great fear,
Asking myself why I wanted
to hear?
Why would you speak to me who's
so lowly
When you're the Most High,
full of glory and holy?
Why would you notice one made
of dust,
One only worthy of your disgust?
Surely you see that I want
to be near
To sit at your feet and give
you my ear
Knowing your presence and hearing
you speak
Making me glad I decided to
seek
Your words I desire, your fullness
to know
To be filled with a fire that
makes me to glow
Filling me full with your words
of instruction
Words that will keep me from
selfish destruction
Hearken my son! I've heard
your cry
Know that for you I sent Jesus
to die
That you were made righteous,
holy and pure
To stand in my presence, sanctified
sure
Come into my presence and bask
in my light
Be filled with my glory, honor,
and might
Walk in assurance on a foundation
of stone,
That in all your circumstances,
know this: You're not alone!
Amen.
Praise
the Living God!
