Charles Brent Meece was born September 24, 1870 in Dykes, Pulaski county, Kentucky, the ninth of ten children of George Milton Meece and Catherine Baker. He was raised in the hill country and on June 19, 1890, he married Julina "Lila" Fair Dykes at her parent's home in Somerset. They were the parents of seven children, two of which died as infants.

Charlie and his family moved to Montana in 1904 and settled in Central Park in the Gallatin Valley. They moved four miles west to Manhattan where Charlie operated a blacksmith shop until he retired in 1954. He was a huge sports fan and followed the local high school teams with great interest.

Charlie was a member of the Baptist Church and the Manhattan Masonic Lodge and I.O.O.F. Lodge. He was survived by one son and three daughters, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Manhattan Masonic Temple and burial was in Meadow View cemetery.
