BIOGRAPHY:
Irene Ethel Thompson was born December 12, 1903, on the family farm in Humboldt County to Ed and Mabel (Olson) Thompson. She was raised in Humboldt County and attended rural school there.
On November 11, 1922, she was united in marriage to Ernest Louis Dolder. The couple made their home in the Fort Dodge area for all of their married life. During WWII, Irene was an active volunteer with the Red Cross. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, and served as the Primary Level Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was also a member of the Moose Lodge. Irene loved spending time with her family and loved little children and crocheting. She was active as a housekeeper for others well into her 80's.
Survivors include her sons and their wives, Gene and Marjorie Dolder, and Robert L. and Janice Dolder, all of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren, Linda Rojohn, Bruce, Steve, and Kevin Dolder, and Dena Marie Hofbauer, 13 great grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 step-great-great grandchild; and 1 sister, Eunice Jacobsen, Spencer.
Irene died on November 14, 2001, at Villa Care in Fort Dodge at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest, in 1974; son Dwayne in 1944; 3 brothers Otis, Kenneth, and Gerald; and 1 sister Edna.
