BIOGRAPHY: 

Orval C. Andrews was born February 19, 1887 at Iroquois, Illinois. He was the fifth eldest son of a family of seven boys and three girls. When he was seven years of age the family moved to a farm near Somers, Iowa. He grew up in the farming community of that area.
He was united in marriage with Clara J. Dolder, March 11, 1914 at Pioneer, Iowa. They moved to Minnesota in 1919 settling at Hector. In 1943 they moved to Litchfield and moved to a farm near Lake Stella in 1949.
Mr. Andrews passed away at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital on March 25, 1956, where he was taken early the preceeding morning, death having been caused by a stroke. He had attained the age of 69 at the time of his death. He had been in poor health since his accident at Litchfield Woolen Mills in 1947.
Although Orval spent the most of his life farming, he was a well qualified steam engineer, painter and carpenter. Seven years ago he purchased a farm on the south short of Lake Stella. He resided there until his death.
He was a charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church of Darwin.
Survivors include his wife, Clara, to whom he had been married for forth-two years; the son, Ernest, who is a Captain in the Air Force, performing duty with the 3499th Mobile Training Wing, Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois; the daughter, Fern (Mrs. Naldo Johnson), who, with her husband, is operating the home farm; grandchildren Larry and Kay Andrews; three brothers, Arthur, Clare, Iowa; Elmer, Wallingsford, Iowa and Everett, Port Hueneme, Calif.; one sister Bertha Egil, Camerillo, Calif.; and Uncle John Ehlers, Milford, Illinois.
Funeral services for Mr. Andrews were held at All Saints Lutheran Church, Darwin, Minnesota, Monday March 28 at 2;00 p.m., with Dr. Oscar O. Gustafson officiating. Special music was provided by Miss Alvina Nelson, pianist, and Mrs. Floyd Miller and Miss Alice Miller who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset".
Bearers were Gottfred Nelson, Wm. Hellwig Sr., Ray Clemenson, Harry Werner, Floyd Miller and Clarence Johnson. Interment was in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield.

Andrews, Rantoul AFN, Illinois, Arthur Andrews of Clare, Iowa, a brother, John Ehlers of Milford, Ill., an uncle; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roselius, Crescent City, Ill., cousin-in-laws; Mrs. John Andrews, Milford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bollock, Humboldt, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dolder, Fort Dodge, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hesser, Cosmos, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dolder, Livermore, Iowa; Mrs. Andrew Jacobsen, Humboldt, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Adel Hansen, Jefferson, Iowa; nephews and nieces; Mrs. Lyle Krough, Butler, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dolder, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dolder all of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Harold and Gerald Hesser, Cosmos, friends, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wiegart, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dolder, Miss Fannie Hesser, all of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
