"OUR FAMILY"
Dan and I have been very fortunate to both come from very loving families. Dan came from a family of 10 kids and I came from one with just 2 kids, but both were very close families with a very strong bond. Both sets of our parents were better than anyone could hope for, although my Mom is the only one still remaining with us, their memories linger on in our minds and hearts. I was so excited to become part of his family, to gain that many wonderful, loving brother and sister-in-laws. His family reunions are to die for....they're great!
As I mentioned on my page, Dan and I met at a dance one night when I got up to sing with his band. I joined the band and after a few short months we had moved in together... a couple of years later we were married. We've been married 10 years now, and I can honestly say that it's been the best 10 years of my life! I've never been so happy!
Dan had 4 children, Danny, Jack, Steve and Holly, from previous marriages and I had 3 kids, Stacy Dawn, Billy and Shauna Kay, of my own from a previous marriage. Seven children, Oh My Goodness...I would have never thought it! *S*
We now have had a total of 11 grandchildren, 10 that are living....and we have another one on it's way. Danny has 2, Krystal and Kandice. Jack and his wife Rhonda have had 2, Kindra (our little one that just wasn't quiet strong enough to survive) and Kylee. Steve has had 2, Shelby by a previous marriage and a son Jarod Van with Amber...Steve and Amber have just announced that there is another one on the way!!! Holly has 3, Kayla, Steven and Chancey. Billy has one son Robert. We have one adopted grand-daughter, Braedon. Not meanin' to brag to awful much....these are just about the sweetest and most beautiful bunch of kids that you'd ever hope to have or meet!!!
So as you can see, we're obtaining quite a large family ourselves....and I love it!
We still have the two youngest girls at home. Stacy Dawn is our special child, she has cerebal palsy and is completely handicapped. I put a page up for Stacy that you might want to read to know a little more about her.
Shauna Kay (the youngest) is a senior in high school this year... and probably won't be hangin' around our house for much longer. It's about to break this mother's heart that she'll be leaving me! I guess I'm goin' through that empty nest syndrome. I've cried when we ordered senior pictures and announcements, while we're looking at prom dresses, when she carried in her tassel and just about everytime anything is mentioned about her being a senior! I just don't know how I'll make it through graduation! *S*
I hate to admit it, and I'm not really predjudice, but these are some of the most lovin' kids that you would ever want to meet. I'm very proud of each and everyone of them.
I keep waitin' for the day that we could get them all home at the same time to have a great big family picture made... if that ever happens, I will surely have it posted on this page!
We're fixing to move a house up to our ranch that will eventually be for Stacy Dawn. She will live just right down the driveway from our new house then, and we will have 24 hour care for her. She will also be able to have room-mates. I think it's great that we can fix up a house where other parents with a child such as Stacy will have someplace nice and homey, with someone close by that cares and will be keepin' a close eye out. It's always worried me the older that we have gotten, how we would be able to manage taking care of her properly...this has solved our problem!
As you can see...We are very proud of our family and I'm sure it will just keep growing for many years to come!
