SINUS CYST
This is a "slice" of my Sinus CT.
Consider the face you see at the angle of head on, as if I were standing facing you. My right side is your left screen.
Immediately you will notice the sinus cavity and nostril area. Inside the nostrils are curvy tissues which should be thin, allowing more black area to show (black is air) but the sinus in that area is inflamed on me. Also you will see above the "curvy" area... two chambers. One is large and black, the other is small and squashed. The squashed one is normal. The large open black triangle area is some problem the doctor wants to check on but didn't elaborate on.
If you follow the white line of the septum (divides the nose in two halves) you might notice a crook in the center of that line, it curves to the right in the center of my nose. This is some sort of bone disorder. The doctor plans to remove the bone which is jutting into my left sinus. It doesn't belong there. I have no idea where it came from.
The big issue however, is the large gray area on the left side of your screen. You can see where my eyes obviously are, and where the mouth cavity is... but that large gray area which is jammed into the open black sinus cavity is my "not so little after all" cyst. THAT sucker is the object of attention and will be removed. The cyst is estimated to be the size of an egg. To give you an idea of what a typical "no big deal" sinus cyst looks like... take a look at the open black area of my sinus on the right side of your screen. Against the wall next to the "curvy" area is a slight gray splotch about the size of a small pea. It's difficult to make out in the scan but it is there. That is a typical non surgical "no biggie" cyst.
It is apparent how large the maxillary cyst is on the right side of my face. No doubt the cause of the pain and pressure in my teeth, eye, neck, and ear. When I look at this image I wonder why they didn't want to take it out sooner. The Doctor speculates that I had an infection in my sinuses which was causing inflammation and swelling and referring pain to symptomatic areas.
Uh... Yeah! PAIN IS RIGHT!
Even though I don't feel any pain right now, surgery is warranted and has been scheduled.
