My homemade birdbath was made using the stump of the old crabapple tree.

And here are some other pretty blooms from my gardens,
had to be repaired before the garden could be done. That required digging a trench four feet deep
by six feet long by two feet wide. I told the neighbours if I disappeared suddenly and Bob started
acting suspicious, they might find me there. Bob repaired the parts of the wall that needed it, with a little mortar,
then we sealed it with water seal and we put a plastic liner along the inside of it before putting the dirt back in place.
Bob laid the blocks in the pattern I asked and I hauled a truckload of dirt into the space.
The old evergreen shrubs had been removed before the work began and then I transplanted the two flowering shrubs
and planted some annuals and perennials.
I decided in the fall of '98 to work a little magic on it. I built up the corner, added soil and some rocks from Lake Erie.
I made some very shallow terraces using the logs from some cedar shrubs and a tree Bob cut down.
I then added some dwarf flowering shrubs and perennials and Bob helped me put in a pathway,
made of red slate slabs and pea stone.
