My Poems and Thoughts
Updated January 7, 2008
This page will contain a little of my poetry and perhaps a little of my thoughts about different things from time to time.
Just a Few Thoughts
Bob and I have lived a lot of places (ten) over the years because of his job as a banker.
For Christmas a few years ago my brother-in-law, Barry gave me a jar of cute little sayings.
Just a Day
If I could save a day with you

Life Goes On
Past, present, future, all combine to make a life that's finally drawing to the end.
I don't share my writing with too many people but I wanted to share it with you.
Hope you enjoy it.

Fortunately we were transfered closer to home a little more than a year before we lost my mother in 1999,
so I got to spend a lot of quality time with her before she died. It was something we both needed
and I'm so glad I was living close enough to do that and to take part in more family activities.
My parents always taught me that family is number one, and I've always believed that
and been thankful for the family I have.
From time to time I pull one out and put it on my fridge.
My all time favourite one so far is:
"You may give without loving, but you cannot love without giving."
~~~~~~~~~~
And capture it in time
I’d save that day in poetry
Or in 3/4 time
In songs and rhymes about the you
That I have come to know
Of how you’ve filled my lonely days
And how I love you so
Your friendship means so much to me
And I cannot deny
In me you’ll always have a friend
On that you can rely.
It's time to close the final chapter on this story of pretend.
We laughed and played along the way and had a real good time,
This poem was written as a sort of joke for one of my friends who became very involved with someone on the internet.
She and some of my other friends liked it so much, I thought I'd include it.
Internet Love
Touch me
Make my world expand to a universe of stars
Make me long for you
And all that you are
Lift my soul
To the stars and the moon
Let my heart have wings
My song have tune
Send me
To places I've never been
Give me
A clarity I've never seen
Show me
Love pure and sweet
And do it soon
Or I'll hit delete!
I'll Think of You
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everytime I see the stars
I'll think of you,
Think of all the things you said
That won't come true.
Think of how you said those words
And made me want you near,
To gaze into those loving eyes
And take away your fear.
Everytime I see the stars,
I'll think of you,
Think of all the things we planned
That won't come true.
Think of how I longed
To hold you in my arms,
And there I'd keep you
Safely tucked away from harm.
Everytime I see the stars,
I'll think of you,
Think of all that could have been
That won't come true,
Think of how you said ,
"I love you"
And how I hoped you'd see,
That I love you like one bright star,
Through all eternity.

Lovers
~~~~~~
Inclinations of the heart
Make it very hard to part
From ways the poets sought in rhyme
Or sang of in 3/4 time
The ways of love are never clear
So I will have to ask you dear
What is this thing that holds us close
More powerful than any dose
Of herb or spice or succulent wine
Or Epicurian sup to dine
Of fragrant flower's essential oil
That causes lover's blood to boil
And overflow
Igniting them in love's hot flame
Until their lives are not the same
And those around them fade to dust
Because these lover's ardent lust
Unites them as a team of one
Until life's embers greet the sun
And fade into the sunset
Changing times, a new age face,
My words fly off to outer space.
Across the street, around the world,
A choice of wonder is unfurled.
To journey here or journey there,
And never have to leave my chair.
Over mountains lakes and trees,
Today I'll go just where I please.
And never have to pack a case,
Or gas a car, or have to race.
To be on time or catch a train,
I can go there in my brain.
And I can speak with knowledge rare,
With my Thesarus by my chair.
So talk to me and type it out,
And please remember not to SHOUT!!!!
Or I might yell and steam and stew,
And then turn round and just delete you.
But, I wouldn't. *wink*
Seasons of Love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I could save this time, this season with you, I would seal it in my heart and blend it into one perfect year.
And in the passage of time, I would love you til the shadows have all gone.
But it is now and you are here and time slips swiftly by. In your arms and in your eyes
your love it calls to me, with urgent pleading voice.
The world is rich with sunshine until it meets another dawn, and days flow by like rivers,
racing to the sea, where we meet within life's waters and your love flows into me.
Come ride with me thru spring. I'll leave you on an iron park
bench..... somewhere in the heat of summer,
until the autumn leaves decide to fall, and we'll be off again. .... to nowhere in particular, together.
We'll ride the wind through autumn's painted landscape, capturing the hues of earth's warm coat and
sleep under her blanket of snow and frosty air until the sun of springtime wakes us from our slumber.
I awake one morning..... with your strong hands in mine..... with the smile that is your fire.....
and your eyes that are my life. Then the snow begins to melt around us, heated by love's warm embers.
A flower reached up from the soil and bloomed in the Springtime of our journey and sent us on our way to visit other far off lands.
Know... that I would love you... even as the wind blew cold, even as the sky was no more,
wanting only that these arms could hold you... that these eyes could love you.. one more time.. one more forever,
until our journey reached the end and Summer bloomed again igniting sparks hidden deep within us.
And I would give my soul to you, arms at my sides.. in the summer of my years.. in the cool of the night,
in the depths of my heart.
Our souls would blend and soar together among the starlit heavens until eternity.

Come Play With Me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Come play with me in fields of scented clover
Lie in Spring's morning sun with me
And listen to the meadowlark's lullaby
Laughing, dancing, loving until the light fades
And we lie beneath a blanket of stars until...
The dew kissed fields radiate their fragrant perfume
And awaken our senses as well as ourselves
We'll swim in opalescent pools of summer rain
And when the trees become dappled
In hues of red and orange and yellow
We'll gather fields of golden flax
And weave a cloth so fine and warm
To protect us from the cold wind of winter
Until seed erupts from dormant soil
And we might play once more
The Light Is Gone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once I ventured from the dark
Towards a bright inviting spark
It twinkled here and twinkled there
And then it soon became a glare
It drew me in and drew me out
It made me sing and dance and shout
And then the shining light went out
I gave my heart, I gave my soul
And when it left, it left a hole
I called for it, from whence it shone
But it was gone and I’m alone
Again

He Sleeps
~~~~~~~~~
He sleeps in slumber’s sweet embrace
I see her traces on his face
A peaceful calm, a heavy sigh
She comes to him where e’re he lie
She lays her heavy hand across
His furrowed brow to show who’s boss
He lets her win without a fight
Surrenders to her, all the night
‘Till rising sun and morning dew
Wakes him from his dreams of you
On Losing Love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He closes his eyes and sees her face
An indelible mark upon his brain
Imbedded in his heart for all time
The scent of her still clings to her clothes
He breathes it in several times a day
In fear of forgetting
But love never forgets
Love cleaves to memories of her
Faithful in it’s rememberings
Her beautiful eyes, soft hair
The gentle curve of her lips when she smiled
How could fate take her loving touch and gentle nature from him?
How will he survive without them?
He will go on, but part of him will be forever lost
Lost in his memories of love……and her.
