"THE BICYCLE"
My father beckoned to me and said I must go,
On an errand for him........and so,
He told me to take my brother's bike,
As the destination was a very long hike!
To touch that BIKE!........I was never allowed!
Regarding HIS BIKE, my brother was proud!
Such a thrill to ride on it, this very day!
With my father's permission was the only way!
The man's house was at the top of a hill,
I delivered the message and all went well!
Until I started DOWN and discovered NO BRAKES!
How could this be??...for goodness sakes!!
Too late now!!........I felt gripping FEAR!
That sharp turn, at the bottom, was coming so near!!
At this speed, I knew I was in TROUBLE! and so,
I tried to steer around it, but, the bike didn't go!!
I crashed into the ditch, on the opposite side,
This truly had been a dangerous ride!
The bike spokes were broken and the wheel bent,
I was broken, too and sorry I'd been sent!!
I had to hobble home, dragging this "wreck",
Knowing that my brother would soon "ring my neck"!
He was very angry and threw me to the ground,
But, I was saved, when my father came around!!
He said,"Hey there! Don't touch her! NO!"
"I gave permission for her to go!"
The bike was repaired........and I mended, too!
SURPRISE!!!!! I got my own BIKE,
So shiny and new!!!!
