BUTTERFLIES

I think, that lovely butterflies are sent,

To prove to humans, that they can't invent,

Anything quite as beautiful as this....or

A metamorphosis, so interesting to explore!

Its life story begins, with a very small egg!

On a favourite leaf, where the butterfly has laid!

Becomes a caterpillar and gets too big for its skin!

Diligently spins a cocoon, for its own self to sleep in!

This special container opens, just like a flower, one day,

And there is a beautiful butterfly, ready to fly away!

A butterfly will fly by day....and a moth likes the night!

However, this statement might not always be right!

For sometimes a moth will fly in the daylight, too,

And some butterflies migrate, just as humans do!

The Monarch Butterfly goes south, in the Fall,

Returns in the Spring, to be welcomed by all!
