CANADA or CANNOT?

Not fame! Not fortune!
Not popularity!....but.....fairness, please!
What must we do?.....get on our knees?
Is CANADA still a Democracy, proud and free?
Is there equal opportunity, for both you and me?
Can we still choose the physician we prefer?
Or must we only go, to the one who is "Sir"?
If doctors can refuse, to give womanly care,
Could I do the same and be equally unfair?
Could I turn away their children from school?
Because they do not fit in with MY RULE?
A Democracy and Dictatorship cannot co-exist!
Did our country change? Is there something I missed?
Canada must stand for "choices", for you and for me!!
Otherwise, we should change the name to "Cannot", don't you see?
If I cannot go, to the doctor I CHOOSE,
I will consider this a form of abuse!
I'll ignore serious illness and just stay at home,
It will say, "Farewell to Doctor's" on my tombstone!!

For 28 years, I searched for a Female Doctor, in my area.....but, the ones
in practice already had too many patients......so, reluctantly, I had to
seek Male Practioners, for care and take my female concerns to Toronto,
where I was able to find very adequate care from concerned Female Doctors.
On two occasions, they saved my life, during kidney operations and heart
problems. At last, a new Female Doctor has set up practice, in the my
area.....BUT......I am not allowed to go to her, because on rare occasions,
I saw another Male Doctor. Many women have expressed their concern to
me.......and we all feel, that it is unfair treatment. We think, that there
is something amiss and I am complaining on their behalf, as well as my own.
