Canadians everywhere, now lend a hand,
To the ice-ravaged towns, across our land!
St.-Jean-Sur-Richelieu has been torn asunder,
Still a dark, grey sky, that they remain under!
Nature's extremes can't easily be dismissed,
Just humbly accepted, as she shakes her fist!
Millions shiver, in the dark and the cold,
Winter storms continue....so angry and bold!
Snapped like matchsticks~hydro towers down,
Very few lights glow, in this dismal town!
Fatigued Hydro Crews and the Military rush,
While a dark, silent city seems to say, "Hush!"
Rebuilding, restoring, one pole at a time,
Soldiers loading supplies...an assembly line!
Sixteen deaths now, blamed on this ice storm,
Accidents and failure, to keep safe and warm!
Temperatures plunge, causing more dread,
Sub-zero nights....could increase the dead,
Now, Canadian refugees, that are so destitute,
Like limp, broken branches, without a root!
Generators and gas prices soaring! Not fair!
Donations pour in, from almost everywhere,
All over the world, many people do "good",
So many opportunities, to show brotherhood!
Quakes, erruptions, floods, fires and hail cause,
Disasters, with no respect, for our frail, human laws!
Weather trumps Politics and a Canadian forgets,
All of his differences and such foolish regrets!
No talk of Separatists or Federalists, now,
Referendum and concerns put aside, somehow!
Cold Wars bring discomfort, in many a way,
But, also warm hearts and compassion today!
