GRASSHOPPERS

Locusts plagued them, in the days of old,
At least, this is what the Bible has told!
But, grasshoppers plagued Canadians, too,
Stories were passed on, from them to you!
To Napina.............on a CPR train..............
Millions, of grasshoppers...splashing like "rain"!
On boxcars, eye glasses, clothing...these are the facts!
Landing everywhere....causing slick, greasy tracks!
The train slowed down! Wheels started to slip!
And because of the residue, they had no grip!
After a little while, the plague was gone,
So, the train inched forward....and went on!
In the "Terrible Thirties", just one more trial,
Now, we recall it....and it makes us smile!
