HISTORY REPEATS
Canadian textbooks avoid these ten, lost years,
Knowledge about the Depression, quietly disappears!
No understanding, that wages were $5.00 a week,
For all the textile workers and others who would seek!
Ontario sent fruit, vegetables and clothes, to Saskatchewan,
Dust bowl farmers, worked discouragedly, from dawn to dawn!
Drought, that caused their crops to be destoyed every day!
Farm families gave up...turned their backs....walked away!!
Just one cent a pound, for a B.C. salmon, I fear,
A New Brunswick farmer made just $20.00 that year!
Every life was touched, by all of these sad events,
Causing much havoc and hardships so intense!
A huge, chain reaction, of silent subtraction,
Creating rumbles and grumbles, of dis-satisfaction!
Down through History, it has always been true,
That which harms others, will eventually harm YOU!
But, such easy increase for a very fortunate few!
It does come to light.......... again and again!
How some types will profit, from another's pain!
The rich get richer, as the poorer classes go under!
The street bands will play, to shut out the plunder!
I just can't help asking, is it any great wonder?
That sometimes Revolutions come to the fore?
Can't you almost hear the distant thunder?
As natives feel restless.......more and more!!

I am not one of the disenchanted people in Canada. I am grateful to
live,
in a country, where I am free to express my honest opinions, based
on my
experiences. It distresses me, to listen to rhetoric, that supports
Separatist views. I believe in equality, for all Canadians and hopefully,
we can achieve this, by working together and understanding the needs
and
dreams of others. However, we must be diligent, about standing up,
for our
democratic principles.....for many lived and died protecting them and
passed the torch to us.
