Joey was a lively child!
Some would say,"a little wild"!
With lots of energy, he did bound,
And each foot, barely touched the ground!
With sparkling eyes and freckled nose,
He danced through days, on eager toes!
One day, I found him, in a tree,
Not where he was told to be!
He laughed and shouted, "Look! I'm here!"
He had no thoughts, of harm or fear,
I used to watch him, while at play,
And prayed, that he'd find, a better way!
His smile was "special"....But...at school,
He needed, to observe each rule!
Otherwise, he'd come to harm....
He just might fall and break his arm!
But, then I really did not see,
That one day, "News" would come to me!
So sad...but, true....his bike....a bus....
And poor Joey, in the dust!!!
No more smiles or lively chatter!
No dares or fun, on Joey's platter!
I felt his family's grief and pain,
As rain dripped down, my windowpane!
Then, I recalled, the perils and strife,
He could have faced, throughout his life!
I'm sure GOD knew and had a plan,
He would not grow, to be a man!
His red hair and winsome smile,
In Heaven would somehow beguile!
He'd get new wings.....be young FOREVER!
Now, isn't GOD so very clever???

Joey enjoyed visiting my classroom, although he was never one of my
pupils.
He just wanted to explore and find out, what we were doing.
Sometimes, he would bring things, to share with us. Usually, these
would be
a picture or object, about science projects, etc.
He is one child, not to be forgotten. Like all children, he was unique,
free from any artificiality and ready to make friends. He made me
smile.....and gave most people a challenge.
When you work, with other people's children, you learn so much. Through
osmosis, they become a part of you.....and you become a part
of them. Once
we have met and interacted, we are never quite the same and I will
always
carry a tiny spark, from each child I met, during my thirty years,
in the
classroom.
My happiest days, were because of these wonderful, little people. They
taught me so much, about trust, compassion, courage, determination,
generosity, caring Etc. I shall never forget them and I treasure, all
of
the nice things they did, just to please me!
I am sure, that these children were good examples, of the nurturing
and
love, that existed, in their homes. Their parents can be proud, of
their
offspring. Raising a child is a difficult task and there are so many
influences and obstacles, to get in the way, but....in spite of this,
they
managed to promote the right ideas, which will stand them in good stead,
all of their lives.
