A Lady With Style

She looks so attractive....a lady with style,
Sweet personality and a beautiful smile!
Males couldn't take their eyes off of her!
She was so elegant, in jeans, silks or fur!
Also intelligent....and everyone said,
There wasn't a book, that she had not read!
A loyal, compassionate friend, so caring and true,
A diligent person and a good homemaker, too!
So, why was this lovely lady all alone?
Without male attention, on her pink telephone?
For her, life hasn't been very kind,
Most men couldn't accept, what they would find!
Cancer and surgery had taken parts, but not all!
She no longer looked, like a cute, Barbie Doll!
Men need perfection...the physical kind!
Anything else and they act so very blind!
Aren't interested, in her other special qualities,
Just need someone for "playtime", someone who'll please,
They miss so much....these boyish Blind Mice,
Makes good women realize, some males just aren't nice!
Such stress on LOOKS, makes most women feel,
Men need to WAKE UP and just act more REAL!
So, ladies beware, of men who stress body parts,
These Don Juans just don't have any kind hearts!
They are selfish, arrogant and not very smart!
Give them no heed....just help them to depart!
So what, if you live, with a silent telephone!
There are many things, far worse than being alone!!
Pour yourself a coffee! Read a good book!
Walk with your faithful dog, along the rambling brook!
Cherish the blessings, that you already have!
And above all else.....don't ever feel sad!
Just be grateful, that you are so happy and free,
Free from exploitation and more able to be,
A whole, better person, because you now know,
Who is who and which way you should go!!

It is so sad, that people are not accepted, for who they are and only for,
how they LOOK. There are very few raving beauties, in this world....just
walk down a street and keep score. Then, look in the mirror and be honest,
in your appraisal. Often the people, who expect others to measure up, to
their impossible standards, are not so great themselves. Beauty is in the
eye of the beholder and most of my wonderful friends, would not win a
Beauty Contest, but to me, they are the most beautiful people, in the
world.

It is even sadder, when someone stresses physical attributes, without
knowing about the other person's circumstances. Due to illness, they could
be easily hurt emotionally, as well as facing their physical challenges. We
need to be more aware and less determined to seek perfection, because none
of us fit into the Perfect Person Catagory.

I told a friend, that the man I wish to meet would be handicapped, so he
could not leave home and I would treat him like a King.....and make his
life wonderful. She warned me, that she knew of a case, where a person, in
a wheelchair, ran away from home, with a new partner. I give up!! There is
no hope, for the insensitivity, in the human race!

I taught many beautiful children, over the years, but the one I most
remember, was a boy, who had water on the brain and had many operations,
leaving his poor face huge and lopsided. He came to my class, hiding his
face, with his hands and I silently prayed, that God would help me, to look
at him, not with pity, but with eyes of LOVE. By the end of the first week,
I thought he was the cutest kid I had ever known, for his personality made
up for everything else. I forgot, that he was different and he forgot to
hide his face. We had a wonderful year together and because the teacher
accepted him and said flattering things, so did the other children. It was
so rewarding, to see him smile! I learned much from this
experience.....that first impressions, where appearance seems important,
can change into lasting acceptance and a new awareness, of what is truly
beautiful.

Please note.....Many people thought that I was "The Lady With Style" in
this poem. No! I am just empathizing with millions of women, who feel
rejected and abandoned, for ridiculous reasons. Sad stories keep pouring
in, as the media continues to stress unrealistic ideas, about what a woman
should be. I often think, that I must be on the wrong planet!!
