MR. NOBODY
Mr. Nobody lives at my house,
He's neat as a pin and quiet as a mouse!
He doesn't complain, or cost me a cent!
He's the Perfect Man....but, I pay the rent!
Each day, he knows how to care,
Doesn't pout, drink, smoke or swear!
I don't need to worry about any detraction,
Everything he does is to my satisfaction!
I get up when I please and eat what I like,
Can go for a walk.....or even a hike!
I can choose my own colours and plan my own day,
For me, it is really the very best way!
I don't have to clean or pick up after him,
He's ever so careful....as neat as a pin!
He is pleasant and charming...admires what I do!
No other man could be quite so true!
He used to be "different"....always in trouble,
It might not have been him....maybe his "double"!
I used to think, that he was really very lazy,
Or perhaps attempting to just drive me crazy!
Dishes in the sink and clothes on the floor!
As the years went by, he did more and more!
Broken objects and mud on the mat,
Books scattered everywhere, just where he sat!
An empty milk carton, on the refrigerator shelf,
He drank every drop....only cared for himself!
When I asked my three children, "Who did this to me?"
Each of them stated, "I did not see!"
Just like a shadow, he was such a fool,
Followed me everywhere.....even to school!
All of my pupils knew him quite well,
But, they were protective and just would not tell!
No matter what happened, during their study,
We would discover....it was Mr. NOBODY!
A book....the crayons....an eraser....or mitt,
Each child said, that he didn't do it!
Someone invisible had been causing disaster,
We could have caught him, if we had been faster!
We never did see him....but.....we knew he was there,
Hiding in the cloakroom, or under a chair!
They tell me, that he is still quite a mess,
Living in other houses....and causing distress!
Not like the one, that now lives in my home,
So very polite....and never to roam!
His cruel pranks are over! He's co-operative and mild!
So different from when he was just a child!
He now shows respect and I'm glad he grew up,
No more broken objects.....not even a cup!
If you should ask me, who lives at my place,
I would have to say, with a smile on my face.......
"Mr. NOBODY!!!"
