PRESERVED!

Butch's tail starts to wag and his ears shoot up,
Every time, that he sees that old, tin cup!
His tongue hangs out and he starts to drool!
Patiently waits, for he's been to Obedience School!

His Master, Charlie, sits on his favourite chair!
Laughs and chatters, although no one is there!
Sipping, smacking, sighing....as he rambles on and on!
The same old tales, about what went right or wrong!

When the long night is ending and the last word is said,
He sets his cup, on the floor and hobbles off to his bed!
Now, Butch's tired, bloodshot eyes open up very wide!
He looks into that mug........to see what is inside!

Ah, yes! Half of the contents are still quite intact!
This important daily ritual is a simple fact!
So, Butch devours his favourite drink and then,
He goes off, to dreaming about cats and bones, again!

Charlie never bothers, to wash his plate or his cup!
He just leaves all of the dishwashing, up to his pup!
Most would say, "Not sanitary", if this scene they observed!
But, I guess old Charlie is SPIRITUALLY PRESERVED!
