STUBBORNNESS

Old Sam was stubborn, most of his days!
Refused to change his difficult ways!

No one had ever dared, to tackle him!
For they knew, that his stubbornness,

WOULD ALWAYS WIN!!

He is stubborn, in the morning, every day of the week!
He is stubborn, in the evening or when fast asleep!

He never said, "YES"! He just knew one word!
"NO" was the only one, that you ever heard!

He almost got married, a very long time ago!
The preacher asked, "Do you take this woman......?"

AND HIS QUICK ANSWER WAS, "NO!"

So, he lived all alone, with his stubborn abuses,
Creating distress, with verbal excuses!

His stubbornness continued, in all four seasons!
Even he couldn't think, of any good reasons!

Being in charge and determined, about what is BEST,
Would be O.K.....and pass the "Stubbornness Test"!

But, Sam didn't abide, by any "GOOD POLICY" rule,
He was stubborn, without reason, for he was a fool!

Then one day, he met someone, more stubborn than he!
Everyone watched breathlessly, for they wanted to see!

Who would win, in this "Stubbornness Game"?
Would Sam be his usual, obstinate self?
Would he put other's preferences, on a very low shelf?

Sam started early, determined to have his own way!
And it continued, for the rest of the day!

But, OLD DOBBIN, didn't budge, for he hated Sam!
He wasn't impressed, with this cruel, selfish man!

He was bigger, stronger....a powerful beast!
Never tempted, except with a delicious, "horse feast"!

But, Sam would never give in to anything like that!
He yanked and yelled....and Dobbin kept pulling back!

By the end, of the day, Sam had to finally admit,
He was too exhausted....was no longer "fit"!

A small child came forward, looking so frail!
Walked right up to Dobbin, with oats in a pail!

Dobbin gave a small whimper and friendly retort,
Stood up...followed her....like a very, good sport!

Her kind, gentle nature was all that he'd need,
To give him incentive....to encourage him to succeed!

No need to be stubborn, to push, shove and be rude!
Of course...it also was the sight of the food!
