toboggan MY TOBOGGAN RIDE

Winter is beautiful! A sight so divine!
But, causes problems, that sometimes are mine!
I attempt to ignore the deep, snowy drifts,  but will~
Have difficulties, when I try to go down my hill!!
Deep snow and and icy crust, on top challenges me,
So slippery, that I could quickly see,
It would be easy to fall....break a leg or an arm,
What could I do, to keep me from such harm?
If I ignored "age" and sat on my toboggan today,
I could quickly glide to the bottom this way!
I would put on the brakes, by dragging each foot,
And then......
Hopefully I could slow it down again!
I would go creeping along, just like a snail,
Such a great idea! This plan must not fail!
With a big slice of courage and a slight dash of fear,
A warning voice inside me, that I refused to hear!
I inched my way, to the edge of the hill,
All went well.........until........
The speed increased and the "brakes" weren't so good!
My feet just slid! Didn't slow it down, as it should!
I knew I would crash, if I didn't eject,
If I hit the car, we'd both be a wreck!
At the very last second, still clinging to the rope,
I rolled off my craft, on that slippery slope!
Being close to the ground, I wasn't hurt at all,
I was already "down".....there was no place to fall!
Now, I had a new problem that I had to face,
Getting back up later, to my cozy place!
Pulling my toboggan and bags of food, too,
Isn't the most ideal thing, I'd like to do!
But, no use complaining or running away,
Good Luck, God and effort, would help to pave the way!
Such a difficult climb...inch by inch by two,
It definitely wasn't so easy to do!
My legs were unsteady....my heart thumping so,
My mind said, "Keep going!"
My body said, "NO!"
I fell many times, when I lost my balance,
BUT, I'd say..........
"Keep going! Keep going! You'll make it some way!"
It took twenty-five minutes, but it seemed like forever,
My "going to town" plan wasn't so clever!
At last.....exhausted....I finally got there,
Fell through the doorway and plopped on a chair!
My hair and clothes were now wringing wet,
So, a change of attire was the first thing to get!
I soaked in my tub, in bubbles so warm,
It felt so good, to be back in my home!
And now that I'm here, warm and dry.....
Sipping tea!
All is fine, with the Winter and me!
I'm covered with bruises....these will soon heal,
Muscles and bones are complaining,
But.....I really feel.......
Happy and healthy, while I write you a letter,
If I were still twenty, I would feel even better!!
