Vultures!
Ten on the fence...and three on my road!
All in a row! Not willing to go!
Where did they come from? What could they be?
Why are they sitting...just staring at me?
Looking so eery...."giants" with great beaks!
The strangest sight, that I've seen in weeks!!
Two spread their great wings and circled my field,
Four foot wing span..like a gigantic shield!
Bigger than the falcons, that fly overhead,
And different from those, in the books, that I've read,
Just sitting....and stretching...now, wings at their sides,
Showing no fear, when I step outside!!
Why do they remain...invaders of my space?
Have they decided, to take over my place?
I watched in amazement, for such a long time,
Hoping they'd realize, that this hill is mine!
I've seen birds like this, in an eery, movie scene,
Picking at carcasses...and looking so mean!
These just observed me! I'd no fear, of my fate!
I guess they weren't hungry! Perhaps they just ate!!
Now, gone on....after resting awhile,
Magnificent birds, with a strange, kind of style!
So foreign to my world, as the Guinea Hens we once had,
But, not making loud noises, to drive everyone mad,
Vultures aren't popular....as we all know!
Some people are like them....their ways truly show!
They'll pick at your body...mind and soul, too,
As if they had nothing better to do!!
Now, I am at peace and my hill is so calm,
Mice, rabbits, chipmunks are glad, that the vultures have gone!
Was this an Omen?......of some future doom?
Not likely! I feel quite safe, from such gloom!!

It is not the vultures in nature, that we must fear and avoid. They
are
relatively harmless....but, Human Vultures....the kind, who prey....
not pray......on others, especially children and old people...are the
worst
vultures of all!! We do not live in fear, of the evils, in our world...but
are aware, that we must cultivate friendships, with people who will
respect
and treat us, in an acceptable manner....and not create friendships,
just
to exploit or harm.
