Alexander Hendry (~1760 Scot - 1819 NC USA)

Alexander Hendry was born about 1760 on Mossend, Isle of Arran, 
Scotland.  Oral histories suggests that his father was Robert 
Hendry b. 1727 Lanark, Scotland and that Robert's father would 
have been John Hendry b. about 1700.  Neither has been proven 
or documented - yet.
  Alexander came to America on the ship Pearl in Dec of 1767 and 
was allocated 100 acres of land 12 Dec 1767.  On the same ship was a 
Catherine Hendry who was most likely his mother (nee SELLARS).
  Alexander married in 1784 to Thankful CROMARTIE, d/o William 
Cromartie, another Scotsman, and Ruhamah DOANE, of Bladen Co.
  Alexander d. 4 Sep 1819 and Thankful d. 28 Aug 1843.  Both died 
in Bladen Co N.C. and buried on their estate - White Oaks Plantation.

1.  Robert W. Hendry b. 20 Apr 1785; d. 27 Feb 1859 Pickens Co, AL.
2.  Elizabeth Hendry b. 2 Feb 1786; d. May 1788.
3.  Catherine Hendry b. 17 Jul 1788; d. Jul 1866 Pike Co. AL
    m. Hiram TUCKER and had 15 children.
4.  William Cromartie Hendry b. 28 Oct 1790.
5.  Elizabeth Hendry b. 28 Apr 1792; d. 19 Aug 1815.
6.  Mary Hendry b.31 Mar 1796; d. 1837. [Another src states she
    she was born 1794 and died 1844.]
7.  Thankful Hendry b. 28 Oct 1796; d. 30 Aug 1820 [Another src
    states she died in 1844.]
8.  John Hendry b. 2 Jan 1799.
9.  Hannah Jean Hendry b. 5 Feb 1801.
10. Charles D. Hendry b. 26 Mar 1803.
11. Alexander Hendry Jr. b. 4 Aug 1806; d. 6 May 1868 Pickens Co. AL
    m. Sarah Caroline MATTHEWS b. 1822
12. James Hendry b. 17 Mar 1808; d. 10 Aug 1817 New Hanover Co NC.
