Want to contact Hendry/Hendrie from New England, NY, NJ, PA prior to 1800. GGGGranddaughter of John Hendrie/Hendree who died 1802 in Portsmouth, Norfolk Co., VA. His son, George was prominent cabinetmaker in Richmond, VA. George died 1834. Think these Hendrees dropped the surname of the father, George Diefendorf from Herkimer Co., NY; purported Loyalist, and took the maternal surname. John supposedly served in NJ militia during 1777.

John (1778-1858)Soldier of War of 1812, m. Catherine McFail. James Norton (1812-1861) m. (1) Priscilla Johnson in Thomas Co., GA; m. (2) Nancy Campbell, probably in Brooks Co., GA. He died while Sheriff of Hamilton Co., FL. James Norton & his father, John, along with other members of the family, settled in Hamilt n Co.(near Jennings). John & James Norton, & probably some other family members, are buried in the Hendry Cemetery, supposedly several miles west of Jennings. I would like to know the exact location. Andrew Alexander, my grandfather, was born near Jenn ngs in 1849; he later moved to Brooks Co., GA, then Berrien Co., GA (now Cook Co.).
