Many people are not fans of the sport of boxing, and I'm not here to dissuade you from your opinion, this page is for those who feel as I do, for whatever reason ,you love boxing.  For me it isn't so much the actual fight night but the preparation for the finale, which happens to be the night of the fight.  There is such beauty in the training for this one night. It's like a choregrapher with his dancer, the result of all this training is "opening night".  If by chance you get your steps correct as trained, then the show will open again, another night, if however, you have two left feet, then it's curtains and you must go back to work on another routine that perhaps will bring you other opening nights. The catch here is that there is another dancer (boxer) who has his own choreographer teaching him another routine, that will hopefully be better than yours, he works just as hard to assure he has other opening nights.   What a lot of people don't see is that it not just what happens in the ring or gym with the jumping rope, the shadow boxing, the hand work, the medicine ball , the running and the sparring, it is and should be a way of life; you must eat right, you must get enough rest....This is what you have to do to get to the place where the  Roy Jones Jr's, Evander Holyfield's, Oscar DeLaHoya's are.  Believe me it is not all the glamour that you see.  There is a dues paying beginning, you see it best in all the boxing gyms around the country.  I was lucky, I was able to spend lots of time at the Famous Kronk Gym in Detroit.  In there I was able to watch the amateurs with the dream of becoming another Tommy Hearns, and the new pro's who think they may be better than Tommy Hearns, the pro's who realized that they can be their own person in the ring, and ride on their own skills, and the old pro's who had it once and trying to regain it again.  And if you want to hear what boxing used to be like "in the days" just sit down with some of the trainers, at Kronk some have fought Ezra Charles, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali ..and they are imparting the wisdom and knowledge of my beloved sport to these young fighters who never saw Ezra Charles, and know Joe Louis because there is a statue of his fist in downtown Detroit.  If you ever get a chance to go to a boxing gym, please go....it will certainly shed new light on what takes place inside the square circle.....because this is where the boxer is made...

I grew up with boxing, I would sit at my Grandfather's feet and watch the fights.. sponsored by Gillette and the announcer most of the time was Jimmy Lennon Sr. let me add here, Jimmy Jr. would make his daddy proud..I learned to love boxing way back then.  My Grandfather was a fighter in England back before they had gloves to protect their hands, and there was no such thing as a 10 round fight...they fought until one of them couldn't stand anymore..sometimes 30, 40 50 and even 100 rounds, all without the protection that is required in todays boxing matches.  My father was also a boxer, when he was in school at Atherton High School in Flint, Michigan.  And my husband (although I didn't know this at first) was also a boxer in Indianapolis, Indiana.  So I have been around boxing all my life, and I love it.

My husband and I became very involved with boxing when we moved to the Detroit area from Indianapolis.  And after a time we managed and train fighters.  Most of them would come and live with us, so my husband would work them, train them, etc. and I would cook healthy meals for them and generally be a Mom to them.  They became my "kids".  We no longer train or manage fighters, but have stayed in the "fight game" by having a business selling boxing equipment. I never want to be away from boxing, it is a passion and a way of life for me.

I will have links that will take you to the latest fight results, and the current scheduling, as well as comments from the fight world and even some from myself. I will bring you some fight facts of days gone by.  I will also have photo's of the famous and not so famous fight people that we have been involved with.  I hope you enjoy what you see here and will come again, I will update this area frequently.

So sit back and enjoy !!!

I'm sure there is no need to tell you who this gentleman is. This photo was taken in The Palace of Auburn Hills, in Michigan (1991). Ali thrilled us with us presence...He did some shadow boxing for us, and did some magic tricks too...And he showed us that he is indeed a Gentle Man.

This is Michael Moorer with our Grand Daughter, Chelsea..Both were much smaller then (Feb. 1992) Michael was Light Heavy weight champion, and Chelsea was right at 1 years old.

Michael Moorer in training at Kronk Gym (1991). He was still a Light Heavy weight at this point, and he trained very hard to stay in shape.

Michael Moorer, this was always the result of his hard training, arms raised in Victory. This was in Pittsburg, Dec. 1991.
