A friend told me about the Military Brats Registry and I have been surfing around, landing on your GREAT page. I graduated from KHS in 1973 (that was our SECOND Oki tour of duty, I started first grade at Kadena Elementary). My little sister was born at
Camp Kue. Interesting that there are two high schools now; we played sports against each other according to the base we lived on, Kadena, Naha, and Sukiran. Do they still have fraternities and sororities on campus? That was weird. Do they still have a
arching band? I marched the first year they had one and boy were we pathetic.
My gradudating class was approximately 700 kids. Are classes still that large now that you have Kadena High School?
I know what you mean by feeling isolated, what a small island. It's hard to live in such a small place for very long. I have great memories as a Dragon, and great friends that I keep in touch with. Believe it or not you will look back on your time there
as a valuable period of your life.
I am now a nurse practitioner, specializing in babies. I was a member of Future Nurses of America while at KHS. Is the food still as bad?
