Bunny Jar

Materials:

Quart size Country Keepers jar with Heart Shaped Lid
7 inch square of fabric for applique background
fabrics for appliques
lightweight fusible interfacing
paper-backed fusible web
9 inchs of 3/4-inch-wide ribbon
liquid fray preventative
black felt-tip pen with fine point
craft glue

Directions:

Remove heart inside from lid. Use pencil to draw around insert on right side of background fabric piece. Cut out heart approx. 1/2-inch outside drawn line.

If using a lightweight applique fabric, follow manufacturer's instructions to fuse interfacing to wrong side of fabric before continuing.

For bunny applique, leave at least 1 inch between shapes and trace mamma bunny head and nose patterns (below), onto paper side of web. Cutting 1/2 inch outside drawn lines, cut out shapes. Follow manufacturer's instructions to fuse shapes to wrong sies of applique fabrics. Cut out shapes along drawn lines.

Use black pen to draw eyes, whiskers, and mouth on bunny.

At 1/2 inch intervals, clip edges of background fabric to 1/16 inch from drawn lines. Center insert right side down on wrong side of background fabric. Alternating sides and pulling fabric taut, glue edges of fabric to back of insert. Allow to dry.

Tie ribbon into a bow, trim ends. Apply fray preventative to ribbon ends and allow to dry. Glue bow to bunny, allow to dry.

Replace insert in jar lid. If desired, glue in place.
