OUR QUEST AT MAI THAI'S

Our vision at Mai Thai's is a quest to acquire perfection in our breeding program. Our goal will be met when we continually produce dogs healthy in body and temperment, dogs that are structurally sound and conformationally correct. It is a true commitment to the Thai Ridgebacks as a breed.

Our plan to meet this vision is to implement several practices. First, before selecting any dog to be bred, the animal must be healthy and be a correct example of the breed standard. All dogs have faults, but we will match the breeding pair that best compliments each other. We will search the world over and stop at no measures to find the best breeding pair.

What you can expect from us, as the breeders of your puppy.

We, at Mai Thai's will do all we can to achieve a happy well-adjusted puppy ready for his new home. We start by maintaining an impeccably clean living environment for our puppies. We provide extra large whelping areas with access to large exercise pens. We feed the best foods available to our dogs and the puppies and we also supplement our adults for extra health and vigor.

The puppies are given lots of interaction and love from the day they enter into this world. To familiarize the puppies with the sounds of their new environment, we play audio tapes of various sound to the puppies for several hours per day. Mai Thai's is located on several acres of land. This enables us to let the puppies develop their senses and self confidence by allowing them to explore many different environmental situations.

We maintain strict health practices. For this reason we can not allow puppy buyers to visit until the puppies are six weeks of age. The puppies will begin their vaccination program at this time. We worm on a regular basis starting at three weeks old.

We will not release any puppies to their new homes before 8 weeks of age. The period between 6 & 8 weeks of age is a critical time period in the development of the puppy's personalities. During this time period, they learn how to interact with their littermates. This interaction teaches invaluable lessons to the young puppies. They learn from each other what is appropriate and inapporpriate behavior, they learn discipline and the concept of the pack hierarchy and order. This is also a crucial time for us, as the breeders, to evaluate the puppy's temperments and demeanor. We will know which puppies have a dominant temperment and which ones are submissive. It is very important to match a puppy's personality to the wants and needs of the new owners.

What we expect from you, the buyer.

Our goal is to match a puppy to a new owner that will result in a positive and joyful relationship for the lifetime of their new addition. In order to achieve this we need the buyers to be honest in their expectations of their new dog. We need to know about your level of experience and history with dogs. It is too easy to get enamored with the Thai Ridgeback's glamorous and regal appearance without fully understanding the needs and temperment of the Thais. Once we have a clear understanding of your expectations, we can match a puppy for you.

We expect that the new puppy owners fully understand the temperment of the Thais and will be able and willing to provide the puppy with adequate care, training, and love. The Thai Ridgeback needs to be a member of the family and requires a commitment for the life of your new puppy!
