Welcome to the
Cooper
Family Home Page!
A little
bit of the "cooperesque" world in which we live...
Who we are and what
we do...
We're
the Coopers:
Scott,
Meigan and Amanda,
and
our feline companions, Minuette & Jazz
-
Amanda.
. .
-
is now the focal point of our lives (not to mention
our home page!). Born on 6/23/96, she arrived 11 weeks early, as
Meigan had pre-eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. Amanda was 3 lbs., 1
1/2 oz., and was 15 1/2 inches long at birth (almost less area then it
takes to type her full name of Amanda Arline Renison Cooper), and
spent 5 1/2 weeks in the NICU before finally coming home. She avoided
most of the serious complications of prematurity, for which we are extremely
grateful. She is now a mischievous, bright and unbelievably cute
almost 2 1/2 year old, with few signs of having been a preemie.

Scott.
. .
-
is an audio-visual technician for a public high school.
His avocation, however, is music - he plays the electric bass and sings
with the Wally King Orchestra. He has also appeared in numerous productions,
including Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, and
several Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. He has also sung with numerous
choirs, along with Meigan, most notably in the Long Island Philharmonic
Chorus.

Meigan.

-
is an attorney, who, in her spare time (spare what??)
is studying a certificate program in Computer Technology, and also taking
an online course through ZD University.
She also loves to surf the Web, and is constantly seeking ways to improve
this home page. :) She also has a love of music,
and has sung with several choirs, including the Long Island Philharmonic
Chorus, and has appeared in a couple of Gilbert & Sullivan productions
with Scott. Was, and still is, an avid reader, but now it's mostly
limited to parenting magazines. :)

IN MEMORIAM
-
-
Our
Story
-
Scott and Meigan met at a beach party at Robert Moses
State Park, Long Island, New York, organized by the Young Adult group of
our UU (Unitarian Universalist) Fellowship in Huntington, NY, where we
lived at the time. That was back in July '85, and the rest, as they
say, is history....
-
-
And our two female feline companions...
-
Minuette (Min-Min) - is a black/brown & white tabby, who was born in
the dumpster area of Meigan's office complex sometime in 9/94 - our "trash
cat" - who is the most loving cat we've ever had. She, however, has
the sense to run when she sees trouble (i.e. Amanda) coming. ;)
-
Jazz
- is a calico, b. 4/2/97, who was given to Meigan by a co-worker, and who
was a kitten during Amanda's first year. The two have become fast
friends, although we are working on teaching Amanda to "be nice" to Jazz
rather than wack her on the head! :)
