In Ozark Co Abstracts/Deeds 1859-1889 I found a listing for Hiram Bias (Jr.) buying land from Edward Coker (mortgage) 5-22-1880, filed 6-30-1880. This has to be Hiram Bias, Jr. as Hiram, Sr died in 1862 in Rolla, MO.

Belle was part indian.

Hiram killed her by beating her after she left the baby alone and went to work
in the cottton fields to work in Hiram's place when he got drunk.

He was tried and acquitted of this in Ft. Smith, AR. I have a copy of the trial transcript.

Jan Vaughan says her last name was BRASUELL, and doesn't know where the LOVALL name came from. Belle's mother probably married a LOVALL first. This is verified by Jim Barnett, Rosa Belle's great-grandson.

She was the step-daughter of Joseph BRASUELL.

Another researcher said her name may have been Nancy Rosa Belle.

She was with the Brasuell family on the 1880 Soundex Census for Crawford Co., AR.

Eleanor Bias states from records from her daughter, Lindy, her mother was born in 1850. (Per daughter Lindy in 1916 her mother was 65....so birthdate would be 1850)

Risley Family Assn says she was born about 1853.

Info from family states they have been to her grave in Sageyeah, OK Cemetery near Claremore, OK per Eleanor.

She had George, youngest son, when living with Hiram after Jeff died.

Risley Family Assn shows her married to Jesse Bias which we now know is Jefferson who often went by Jesse per pension records.

She was staying with Hiram Bias, Jr. & Belle at the time of Belle Lovall's death. She later lived with Hiram Bias, Jr. but they never married per her statement on pension records of Jeff.

Louisa filed for Jeff's pension 7-26-1890. She lived at Dugginsville, Ozark Co., MO at that time.

She received a pension for awhile, but it was revoked 6-30-1899 under the Act of August 7, 1912.

She may have died in a fire in her house (Hiram, Jr. may have set it).

Per Story of her death told by a close relative, she did NOT die in a fire but
of a heart attack after getting angry at someone at her home. Jesse (Eunice's father) was there at the time.

Notes for JESSE JAMES BIAS:
I have contact with his grandson, Jim Barnett, who said Jesse was 17 when his father died. If he was born 1888 (88 plus 17 means Hiram died 1905 but his tombstone says 1907). Jim says he drifted around working on farms until he settled in union Town, AR. He was crippled by polio when a child. Hiram was ashamed to have a crippled kid so he let Nancy Jane, his mother, raise him until she died (he was 10) then Jesse left at about 16 and went to AR with to live. Nancy Jane Bias left everything to him in her will (copy on file) Jesse owned a store in Uniontown, AR, was the postmaster and also had a sawmill or lumber yard. It all burned. His daughter, Eunice, still lives there.

She was in an insane asylum at Vinita, OK at least twice. Finally diagnosed with Palegra from lack of proper vitamins. I have copies of hospital records. She was released in 1927 and was still alive in 1929. Her tombstone shows she died in 1930. It is believed she did not die in the asylum in Vinita.
