My Diary - Book 5: Year 2 Part 3
(October 1st - January 4th, 2000! )

Last Entry = January 9th, 2000!

This is my fifth diary book. Daddy should become a novelist just to keep track of me and my life.

Friday, October 1st, (1 year, 38 weeks, 3 days): Nanna and Aunt Sara came to visit today. Nanna is going to stay for a while which will be fun. She likes to read to me.

Saturday, October 2nd, (1 year, 38 weeks, 4 days): What a busy day. We went out to breakfast at a resteraunt with Nanna and Aunt Sara. We met some of Nanna's friends there. Then I said good-bye to Aunt Sara, and Daddy, Mommy, and I went to Gymboree where I had lots of fun. Daddy left early to coach soccer. Nanna met us at home later and we went to see the soccer game. It was not nearly as much fun as the playground which was next to the field. I was pretty tired after such a busy morning. I ended up taking a nap in the car as we went to a big fair called the Big E. We spent the entire afternoon and part of the evening there. There were lots of people, lights, and noise. I saw cows, lamas, chicks, pigs, sheep, goats, tractors, and lots of other things. I watched a parade and rode a merry-go-round with Mommy.

Sunday, October 3rd, (1 year, 39 weeks, 5 days): More playing with Nanna and Mommy and Daddy. Daddy put up ghosts all around the house today. He also put up a "pumpkin gate".

Tuesday, October 4th, (1 year, 39 weeks): Mommy went on a business trip today to someplace called Berlin. She was on an airplane. Nanna is still here and picked me up at school with Daddy. I like that Nanna makes me scrambled eggs in the morning.

Wednesday, October 5th, (1 year, 39 weeks, 1 day): Mommy is still gone but Daddy says she will be home tomorrow. I left her some messages on her machine at work so she knows I love her.

Thursday, October 6th, (1 year, 39 weeks, 2 days): Yay, Mommy was home when I came home! Nanna said good-bye to me this morning. She went back home to take care of Sabie.

Sunday, October 10th, (1 year, 39 weeks, 5 days): We went to see a bunch of jack-o-lanterns tonight in town. There were some with smiles and some with frowns. Some of the pumpkins had faces like dogs and cats and ghosts. It was fun, even if it was a little scary.

Monday, October 11th, (1 year, 39 weeks, 6 days): Daddy, Mommy and I went to a parade in town today. There were fire engines and a band and lots of people marching. I even saw my neighbor marching in the parade! Afterwards, I saw a puppet show which was very good. I even told Mommy and Daddy the whole story during dinner in the evening.

Saturday, October 16th, (1 year, 40 weeks, 4 days): We went into the city today. We walked around and even went to a fun playground. Later, we ate dinner with Aunt Ginny.

Sunday, October 17th, (1 year, 40 weeks, 5 days): What a good day. A bunch of my friends came to visit wearing costumes. One was a flower, another a cow, another a pumpkin, and the last a skunk. I dressed up in my Northwestern Cheerleader's outfit with my pom-pom and saddle shoes. We played together for a long time in the afternoon. I was a little distressed in the beginning as everyone was playing with my toys, but after a while, I realized that they were not going to take them away so it was ok that they borrowed them.

Friday, October 22nd, (1 year, 41 weeks, 3 days): I went to Texas today. Mommy, Daddy and I got up early went to the airport and flew to Texas. We are visiting Daddy and Mommy's friends. I like them because their two girls, Carolyn and Michelle, are big girls and I get to play with them.

Saturday, October 23rd, (1 year, 41 weeks, 4 days): A very fun day. We went and watched the girls play soccer in the morning. I kicked the ball with Daddy on the sidelines. In the evening, we went to watch the bats. There are millions of bats who sleep under a bridge in Austin during the day. In the evening, they fly away to go eat mosquitos. It is like a river of black bats flowing out into the sky. I like to talk about the bats.

Sunday, October 24th, (1 year, 41 weeks, 5 days): I had to say good-bye to Carolyn and Michelle today as we left Austin and went to San Antonio. Before we left, however, we went hiking with them near their house. I climbed over rocks and sticks and we saw frogs and fish in some water. Daddy and Mommy only carried me part of the way. In San Antonio, we went to a party which was being held for Mommy's biotech conference. They had a Mexican band that went around playing music. I liked listening to them but they kept walking about so I had to follow them. We also walked along the "River Walk" which was very pretty with restaraunts and stores along a small canal-like river. There were small boats with people going up and down the river also.

Monday, October 25th, (1 year, 41 weeks, 6 days): We flew back to Boston today. Daddy and I went to the San Antonio Children's Museum before we left. While there, I drove a tractor, played with bubbles, shopped in a grocery store, drew with crayons and rode a bike. We met Mommy later and went to the airport and got back to Boston late at night.

Friday, October 29th, (1 year, 42 weeks, 3 days): A party! A party! I like parties. Especially those which have older children. Tonight, I went to one in town with lots of other children. Everyone was in costume. I wore my Northwestern Cheerleading outfit and brought my pom-poms. Mommy even dressed up as a Flapper. Daddy looked like a ghost with a lot of extra holes. He said it was a Charlie Brown Ghost - whatever that is! I saw some of my neighbors at the party and ate a wonderfully yummy cookie.

Saturday, October 30th, (1 year, 42 weeks, 4 days): Another party. This one was at my old classmate's house and had lots of children who are about 6 months older than I am. Again, I got to wear my costume and do my "Go Northwestern! Go Wildcats! Go wild!" cheer. My friend's costumes included a ballerina, a spider, a pooh, a tigger, and a bee.

Sunday, Halloween, (1 year, 42 weeks, 5 days): Can you believe it! Another party! This one was with the children from the neighborhood. There were over 40 who came. They all wore their costumes and I did my cheer. There was good food there too which I ate. Then Daddy, I and the girl next door (who is four months older than I) did this strange thing. We went from one house to the next ringing the doorbell. When they opened the door, Lindsey and I would say "trick-or-treat" and the people would give us some candy for our bags. We then said thank you and Daddy insisted that I do a cheer at every house! We went to 9 or ten houses and then went home. Lindsey showed me how to eat a lollipop which was very good. We then played together for a long time. She would throw a ball and I would say "almost, try again", and later I would throw the ball and she would say "almost, try again." It was hilarious. We also showed each other different diapering techniques for my Pooh. It was a fabulously fun night.

Friday, November 12th, (1 year, 44 weeks, 3 days): Daddy had a party for all his soccer team today. There were a lot of children at the house. I was a little intimidated at first, but one of the boys had an older sister who carried me around and fed me so I was pretty happy.

Saturday, November 13th, (1 year, 44 weeks, 4 days): When I woke up, Aunt Sara, Grampa and Nanna were here. Mommy and Nanna went with me to Gymboree and afterwards we got a donut on the way to see Daddy's soccer game. In the afternoon, we all went shopping. I liked playing with Nanna and Grampa. He likes to eat just like me!

Sunday, November 14th, (1 year, 44 weeks, 5 days): Nanna and Grampa went home today. But before they went, we went to church and then to see a "show". It was the show at the furniture store called Jordan's and had crashing cars, people dancing, bubbles, lights, shadows, and lots of music. It sort of scares me but I like it a lot!

Monday, November 15th, (1 year, 44 weeks, 6 days): Well, this is interesting. Apparently, Daddy is no longer working where he used to work all of my life. Now he and Mommy keep talking about him working from home and he has stopped going to his old job. He is even cleaning up one of the rooms that we never used and putting books and files in it. Fortunately, I still get to go to school so I do not have to babysit him everyday!

Sunday, November 21st, (1 year, 45 weeks, 5 days): We had a party at my house for all my friends from school. It was a pre-holiday party because Mommy and Daddy say things are going to be very busy over the next few weeks. I really do not care what the reason was because I had great fun with James and several others playing with my toys. Daddy and Mommy seemed to have fun talking to the other parents also. Mommy and Daddy told me later that they were very proud of how well I share my toys.

Thursday, November 25th, (1 year, 46 weeks, 2 days): Today, Mommy did not go to work because it is Thanksgiving. Instead, we all stayed home and Aunt Ginny came to visit. Daddy made a big meal with turkey and carrots and lots of other good stuff and we ate in the fancy dining room. I do not think I have ever eaten in there. Mommy and Daddy were so proud because I ate with the fine china and silver and was very polite.

Friday, November 26th, (1 year, 46 weeks, 3 days): We went with Aunt Ginny to see Boston's "Enchanted Forest". There were a bunch of Christmas scenes with little children and animals and lights and Christmas trees. I liked looking for the teddy bears that were in each scene.

Sunday, November 28th, (1 year, 46 weeks, 5 days): I got all dressed up today. Mommy got me a very fancy dress and I got to wear it this evening so Daddy could take some pictures. I even had a fancy "hat" and Mommy used a cotton ball and Q-tip to put on makeup. I posed with some nicely wrapped gifts but I was not allowed to open them. Mommy and Daddy kept saying I looked like an angel. Apparently this does not happen too frequently because Daddy took a lot of pictures!

Saturday, December 4th, (1 year, 47 weeks, 4 days): I saw Santa Claus today! He flew to Southborough in a helicopter and I shook his hand. There were lots of people and children there, including my neighbor Lindsey. Later, Mommy, Daddy and I went back and I got to sit in his lap. He said "Ho Ho Ho!" which surprised me. I thought Santa always said "Yo Ho Ho!" Mommy keeps saying that is what a pirate says but I am not convinced yet that this Santa just had it wrong. And he gave me a candy cane.

Sunday, December 5th, (1 year, 47 weeks, 5 days): Daddy put up a tree in my playroom today and put lots of lights on it. Great-Aunt Jeannie came to visit and helped decorate it with me. There are lots of decorations on it which come from my Mickey and other videos. There are even some lights which look like Mickey ears! Remember those pictures they took of me last week? Apparently they are very important because Mommy and Daddy have lots of them now. They have added it to a summary of my diary and are sending it all around the world to people they know! I help them by taking the trash they have and putting it in the trash can. I still do not understand why they want me to put it in the trash can that is all the way down the end of the hall and insist that I do it one piece at a time!

Saturday, December 11th, (1 year, 48 weeks, 4 days): We went into the city today. It was crazy. Besides being very cold, there were people all over. It took Daddy a long time just to park. Mommy got her hair cut while we were there and I watched.

Tuesday, December 14th, (1 year, 49 weeks): I was not feeling well today so I did not go to school. I watched videos and missed James and my other classmates.

Thursday, December 16th, (1 year, 49 weeks, 2 days): I got to go back to school today. Daddy picked me up early and we went to meet Mommy at a place for me to get my hair cut. It was very, very busy though. Daddy was very sad when someone said that there were too many people and they could not cut my hair. We met Mommy and ate at a nice restaurant instead and then went to a mall. Believe it or not, Santa Claus was actually there so I got to wave to him. I did not see his helicopter though.

Saturday, December 18th, (1 year, 49 weeks, 4 days): Wow! What fun! This morning, we went to a big show called "Elmo and His Magic Coloring Book". Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar, and other characters were there. Oscar turned white during the show! But a polar bear helped fix him so he turned green again. A lot of the children at the show left at the intermission, but I stayed for the whole thing because I thought it was great.

Sunday, December 19th, (1 year, 49 weeks, 5 days): I started the day at home and ended the day in California with my grandma and granddaddy! Needless to say, it was a long, fun day. I took a long airplane ride to Los Angeles. There were two children behind our seats so I shared my toys and video with them which made the trip go fast. In LA we are staying with my Mommy's Aunt Salena. They have a big house which is fun to explore. Grandma and Aunt Salena walked me around the house and the gardens. I even picked and ate my own oranges! I also met my Great-Grandmother. She does not feel well and can hardly speak. I let her hold my hand for a long time which seemed to make her very happy. Mommy and Daddy were very proud that I was so polite. Uncle Jeffrey came to stay in the evening and we went out to eat at a nice restaurant with a fireplace.

Monday, December 20th, (1 year, 49 weeks, 6 days): I met Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse today!!!!! Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Jeffrey and I went to Mickey's house in California and it was fantastic! I had to wait in line for 45 minutes to see Minnie but it was worth it. I gave her a big hug and a kiss. (After waiting 30 minutes in line, I saw her leaving and ran after her, crying. Mommy explained that she was only going potty and that she would be back shortly. I had to calm myself down by saying, "Minnie coming back. Minnie went potty. Minnie coming back." over and over. And she did!) I got to look all around Minnie's house and even heard Donald Duck leaving her a message on her answering machine. I went to Mickey's house next which was conveniently next door to Minnie's. I got to meet him and give him a kiss. He helped me down the stairs too. He is such a gentleman. Later, I saw a parade with lots of characters I knew, including Pooh and Eeyore. I also went on the flying Dumbo elephant ride with Mommy and Jeffrey. I did not like the Pinochio ride because it was too scary. I did like the train rides and the merry-go-round, and one called "A Small World" which had lots and lots of children singing Jingle Bells.

Tuesday, December 21th, (1 year, 50 weeks): A day of rest. After yesterday, it was good just to stay at my Aunt's and play with my grandparents and cousins. Mommy and Daddy went shopping during the day.

Wednesday, December 22nd, (1 year, 50 weeks, 1 day): Daddy, Mommy, my Uncle Jimmy (Mommy's cousin), and I went to Legoland today. It was great fun. There were lots of things made of legos and lots of places to play. I especially liked jumping on some special dots which made water fountains spray! I did not get to go on some of the rides because I was too small which was disappointing but I liked everything else. In fact, I had such a fun time that I did not take a nap the whole day. Uncle Jimmy helped watch my parents and entertained me in the process!

Thursday, December 23rd, (1 year, 50 weeks, 2 days): Another day of rest. In the evening, we went to a fun music store. Mommy bought some piano music while Daddy and I played with musical instruments: drums, bells, triangles, tambourines, etc.

Friday, December 24th, (1 year, 50 weeks, 3 days): A very busy day with lots of people. We all went to a very very very big cemetery in the morning. Lots of relatives met there at my Great-Grandfather's grave. I met two more of Mommy's cousins: Allen and Andrew. Allen gave me airplane rides and Andrew gave me a dinosaur ride. We all went to eat lunch at a place where they had big gold and white fish. I even got to feed the fish which was fun. In the evening, everyone was at Aunt Salena's house where we ate a lot more and then exchanged gifts. I got books and toys and picture frames and a computer game. I went to bed very, very late.

Christmas (1 year, 50 weeks, 4 days): A quiet day in California. In the evening, we got on an airplane and flew back to Boston via New York. I only slept about half the trip which did not make Daddy or Mommy very happy but it is hard to sleep on an airplane because it is so fun.

Monday, December 27th, (1 year, 50 weeks, 6 days): I got to see most of my classmates today and to begin to tell them about my trip. Unfortunately, at the end of the day I felt very bad and very hot. They said my temperature was 103 which apparently is very bad so Daddy came and got me.

Wednesday, December 29th, (1 year, 51 weeks, 1 day): I went to the doctor today who said that I had a virus and nothing could be done. However, since I had no fever today, I get to go to school tomorrow!

Thursday, December 30th, (1 year, 51 weeks, 2 days): Krista came to stay with me because my parents went to a party. I like when Krista visits because we have lots of fun.

Friday, December 31st, (1 year, 51 weeks, 3 days): A few of my friends and their parents came to visit tonight. We all ate and played. I got very tired though so I told Daddy I wanted to go to bed at about 8:30. I think most everyone else stayed until past 11 but I am not sure, I was happily snoozing. The year 2000 just does not mean much to someone who missed 1,998 of them!

Saturday, New Years Day, 2000 (1 year, 51 weeks, 4 days): Happy New Year, New Century, and New Millennium!
