My Diary - Book 6: Year 3 Part 1
(January 5th, 2000 - June 4th, 2000! )

Last Entry = June 4th, 2000!

This is my sixth diary book. I am now over two and busy as ever. Besides just learning new words, concepts, and skills everyday, I also run our household (mostly by telling Daddy what to do) and keep firm control on my classroom at school.

Wednesday, January 5th, 2000 (2 Years!): Happy Birthday to Me! Mommy and Daddy kept telling me Happy Birthday and people at school said the same thing. I can tell everyone that I am two now.

Thursday, January 6th, 2000 (2 years, 1 day): James was sick today. I told my parents that "James not feeling well. James had a temperature. James went home." They later were talking to James' Mom who apparently confirmed my story, because Mom and Dad were very impressed.

Saturday, January 8th, 2000 (2 years, 3 days): My Birthday Party! Nanna and Grampa came down from Vermont to celebrate and Great-Aunt Jeannie came also. We all went to Gymboree where 15 of my friends joined me. Winnie-the-Pooh even came. I was the first to run over and give him a big hug (some of my friends were a bit more cautious). Then I patiently waited for others to say hello to him until there was a pause and then I would give him another hug. We all played and ran around. We also had cake and ice cream. Mommy let me have some of hers because I ate all of mine. Afterwards, Carrie and Brandon (and their parents), Grampa and Nanna, Great-Aunt Jeannie, Christina Buffo (and her parents), and cousin Matthew (and his parents) all joined us for dinner. What a fun day. I should have birthdays more often!

Sunday, January 9th, 2000 (2 years, 4 days): Who said Christmas was over? I spent much of the day opening Christmas and Birthday gifts! Nanna and Grampa had brought lots of Christmas gifts from Aunt Sara, Uncle Josh, and Uncle Gery and other people had given me birthday gifts which I did not have time to open yesterday. I am pretty good at opening gifts now and I even remember to say thank you sometimes without being prompted. Daddy and Grandpa occasionally would threaten to open one of my gifts but I would say, "No, Alex do it." Nanna and Grampa got me a red wagon which Grampa put together. Nanna got pretty good at pulling me all around the family room in it, including going through my "drive-through" kitchen!

Monday, January 10th, 2000 (2 years, 5 days): Back to school today where I told everyone about my fun weekend.

Wednesday, January 12th, 2000 (2 years, 1 week): Mommy is not feeling well today. She said that she has a temperature. I asked to see it but she said she could not show it to me. I don't know why she won't!

Saturday, January 15th, 2000 (2 years, 1 week, 3 days): Mommy is feeling much better today. Just in time too! My parents brought me to a new fun place called Gymnastics. There were several other older children there and we did lots of tumbling, running and other stuff. I jumped on a trampoline and did a somersault into a pit filled with foam blocks. Daddy had to help me get out of the pit. He looked funny trying to wade in the blocks. I hope to go to gymnastics more often. Later, my neighbor Ryan (age 3) came over to my house to play. He got a little aggressive so I bonked him one! He would not play with me after that until I apologized. Who says the Parson boys are so tough?!

Sunday, January 16th, 2000 (2 years, 1 week, 4 days): After going to church with Daddy, I went next door to play and visit with Lindsey. We had a lot of fun until Daddy came and took me home for my nap. He can be such a spoilsport!

Tuesday, January 18th, 2000 (2 years, 1 week, 6 days): Yay! Miss Krista picked me up at school again. It has been a long time since she did that. Daddy has started teaching school at night again so I think I will get to see Miss Krista more often which is fine with me.

Tuesday, January 25th, 2000 (2 years, 2 weeks, 6 days): I had great fun at school today playing in the snow. We have not had a lot of snow and the weather the last two weeks has been very, very cold so my classmates and I have not been able to go out very often. Today, it snowed a lot -- so much that Daddy did not teach like he was supposed to. I can nearly put on my snowpants, jacket, hat, mittens, and boots all by myself. I like picking up the snow when I have my mittens on.

Saturday, January 29th, 2000 (2 years, 3 weeks, 3 days): I got my own potty today. I selected it myself. It is white and has a soft seat. After making this important decision, we visited Aunt Jeannie at her house. I played there while Mommy and Daddy went to run errands. I liked playing in Aunt Jeannie's kitchen without any supervision. Aunt Jeannie would start to come in and I would tell her she could not come in yet and to be "patient". After visiting Jeannie we went to see my Aunt Jennifer at the hospital. The baby that was in her tummy is now out and named Nathan. He was very small. I was much happier when we left the hospital and did not bring the baby with us (I am not too thrilled with the thought of siblings). We ate dinner with Great Uncle James and Aunt Natalie. Uncle James is great fun and Aunt Natalie said I could go to New York to visit her and we would go dancing.

Sunday, January 30th, 2000 (2 years, 3 weeks, 4 days): Daddy and I went to church where I was very well-behaved. Afterwards, we went sledding (Daddy pulled me around the yard), built small snowmen, and rolled snow down the hill on the ice. I told Mommy and Daddy that I am a little girl not a big girl like Sara (who in the book uses a potty and wears big girl underwear).

Monday, January 31st, 2000 (2 years, 3 weeks, 5 days): Daddy told me that he made up the rules today. I informed him that Alex makes the rules.

Tuesday, February 1st, 2000 (2 years, 3 weeks, 6 days): I went poop on the potty today at school. My teachers had brought us down to see the potty for the first time in the morning and I sat on it. I went down two other times and the last time actually went pee and poop. Everyone thought it was a very big deal and wanted to me to talk about it. I finally got tired of telling everyone so I stopped speaking of it. I do not know if I want to be a big girl yet if everyone is going to pester me about going potty the whole time.

Thursday, February 10th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 1 day): Oh what a day! Jeannie slept over last night and she, Daddy, Mommy, and I got up very early to go to the airport. When they woke me up, the first thing I said was "we are going to Florida to see Mickey". And that is just what we did. By early afternoon, we were in sunny Florida where Grandaddy and Grandma picked us up at the airport. We then went to one of Mickey's hotels on the monorail and then went to the Magic Kingdom. It was so much fun. I got to ride on the Dumbo ride again, plus a Pooh ride. I saw a big parade with lots of characters I know from my videos. I even got to go out and dance with some people in the parade. I was the youngest one to do it. I got to see Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore and to play in a small water park near Ariel's home. We ate at a place where Goofy, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto were. I liked saying hello to all of them, but only after I had eaten. I have my priorities.

Friday, February 11th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 2 days): We went to a place called Epcot today. It has a big ball with the number 2000 on it. Mommy and Daddy went to ride on a car test track while Jeannie and I hung out in the sun. I loved listening to a marching band that came around. They had lots of drums. I also liked playing in the water fountains since it was warm. We met Grandaddy and Grandma at lunch in a restaurant which has lots of fish. We then went in an aquarium and saw lots more fish, including dolphins. Dad and I played in a big undersea costume. Later, I got to see one of my favorite friends -- Mary Poppins! I also saw Peter Pan. There was a very strange parade with lots of funny puppets late in the evening and a big fire and light show at the end. It was too loud for me.

Saturday, February 12th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 3 days): I got to see lots of animals today. We went to Mickey's Animal Kingdom and went on a Safari where I saw elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, and many other animals. There was a big playground with slides which I loved. Grandaddy, Grandma and I played there for a long time while Mommy, Daddy, and Jeannie went on a dinosaur ride. I also saw a funny show where there was an ant who was upside down from the ceiling and lots of other bugs that jumped out of the movie! We had to say goodbye to Grandaddy and Grandma tonight. They are going back to California.

Sunday, February 13th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 4 days): We went to another park today called MGM studios. Jeannie and I saw lots of shows which is one of my favorite things to do. We saw Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, and the Hunchback from Notre Dame. Mom and Dad went on a couple of rides that were not for me. I also played in another playground but this one had lots of things which were really big ... like grass and ants. Daddy and I almost got stuck in a big spider-net! We had a great lunch with Minnie and Goofy. I even went out and danced with Goofy. In the evening, we took a boat to a special show called the Hoop-de-doo Revue. There was lots of singing and dancing there and a man who did not want to do the Hokey-Pokey. But a woman made him do it.

Monday, February 14th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 5 days): It was our last day in Florida. We went back to the Magic Kingdom where I went on more rides again, including the tea cups, Winnie-the-Pooh, and It's a Small World (my favorite). We had a nice lunch with Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Just before we left, I purchased my own souvenirs (some glasses and a hat). It was very sad to leave but I was exhausted (as were the numerous adults who I had to care for).

Tuesday, February 15th, 2000 (2 years, 5 weeks, 6 days): Back at school today. It was good seeing everyone and telling them all about my trip. Krista picked me up from school because Dad is teaching again. I like when Krista picks me up because we have fun.

Thursday, February 17th, 2000 (2 years, 6 weeks, 1 day): Daddy and I met Mommy for dinner at a restaraunt and then we went to the dentist. Daddy and Mommy had a man work on their teeth and then the man looked at my teeth. I was very well behaved. I have all 20 teeth that I am supposed to have!

Friday, March 17th, 2000 (2 years, 10 weeks, 2 days): Mommy and Daddy are going to New York for the weekend, and Jeannie is going to stay with me. Just before they left, I made Mom feel special by showing her how I can spell "M-O-M".

Saturday, March 18th, 2000 (2 years, 10 weeks, 3 days): Jeannie and I had fun today. Her friends Ben and Matthew came to visit. They are 5 and 3 and were fascinating to watch. They liked playing with my toys, especially the ball pit. I did a very good job sharing my toys.

Sunday, March 26th, 2000 (2 years, 11 weeks, 4 days): I went to Daron's birthday party at Gymboree. It has been a long time since I've been to Gymboree but I remembered everything. Even Teacher Carolyn was there. There was also a clown.

Saturday, April 1st, 2000 (2 years, 12 weeks, 3 days): I went to Carrie and Brandon's birthday party at Gymnastics today. It was funny because I went to class with them early in the morning and then we went back a while later for the party. I had a lot of fun as most of the children are a little older than me.

Monday, April 10th, 2000 (2 years, 13 weeks, 5 days): Nanna came to our house today! She's going to play with me and help me manage the household while Daddy has a lot of evening meetings to attend and Mommy has to work late.

Thursday, April 13th, 2000 (2 years, 14 weeks, 1 day): Boo hoo, Nanna went home. She had to go home to take care of Grandpa and Sabie the dog. Now, there's no one who'll pull me around in my wagon!

Saturday, April 15th, 2000 (2 years, 14 weeks, 3 days): We went to the Circus today with Brandon and Carrie and their parents. It was called the Big Apple Circus but I did not see any apples. I did not like the clown but thought the elephants were fun. Some people also swung very high and I thought that part was "too scary" and that those people should "be careful up there".

Saturday, April 22nd, 2000 (2 years, 15 weeks, 3 days): We had a party at our house with lots of my neighborhood friends. We colored eggs which was great fun. I liked dropping them in the color dye. We then collected a whole bunch of eggs which someone had dropped all around the house. I got lots and so did my friends Lindsey, Drew, Ryan, Jennifer, Andrew, and their older siblings.

Saturday, May 6th, 2000 (2 years, 17 weeks, 3 days): I went to gymnastics this morning. I love going there and walking on the balance beam, jumping on the trampoline, going in the pit with all the cubes, and doing forward rolls. Brandon and Carrie go there also. Later I went to Emily's house for her birthday party. She had a moonwalk which I jumped in with Dad. She also had very good cupcakes which we decorated ourselves. A firetruck came to visit her house while we were there so we could see it. Brandon and Carrie were there also and later came to my house for dinner.

Sunday, May 7th, 2000 (2 years, 17 weeks, 4 days): Daddy went to play soccer this morning. Mommy and I went to the zoo where we met Brandon and Carrie. Daddy came later. I went on some of the rides at the zoo which were great fun. I like the rides when I can go with Brandon and Carrie. In the evening, I took a bath. Before getting in the bath tub, however, I tried to hide from Daddy and Mommy by going under the dirty clothes pile when I was naked. I thought they would not find me but they did.

Saturday, May 13th, 2000 (2 years, 18 weeks, 3 days): We went to the aquarium in Boston today and met Aunt Ginny there. I saw lobsters, seals, a sea otter, sharks, and lots of fish. Many of the fish frightened me but I liked the sea otter the best. He had toys in his pen. Afterwards, we ate at a nice restaraunt and I flirted with the waiter.

Wednesday, May 10th, 2000 (2 years, 19 weeks): Daddy and I went into the city and met Mommy for dinner. Mommy was going to New York so after dinner she left for the airport while Daddy and I did some shopping. But when we got home, Mommy was there! She did not go to New York because the pilot told her the plane it was too dangerous to fly in the thunderstorm.

Sunday, May 14th, 2000 (2 years, 18 weeks, 4 days): Today was Mother's Day so Daddy and I made Mommy some heart-shaped eggs and gave them to her in bed. She also got presents, including a Mickey sweater I picked out for her. While Daddy went to play soccer, Mom and I lounged, then we went and had my hair cut and did some shopping. We then met Dad for lunch.

Tuesday, May 16th, 2000 (2 years, 18 weeks, 6 days): Daddy and I drove into the city where we met Mommy and her friend Dr. Ray from Seattle. He helps very little babies who are sick. I sat on a big statue of a teddy bear during our walk. Later, we had dinner at a restaraunt which did not have crayons. The waiter, however, did bring me some phone books and made a special seat for me so I could reach the table.

Saturday, May 20th, 2000 (2 years, 19 weeks, 4 days): We went to gymnastics and then to watch Daddy coach his soccer game. All of the neighbors were there. After the game, Lindsey came over for lunch at my house and later Ryan came over to play also. We had great fun.

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2000 (2 years, 19 weeks, 6 days): This morning, I had to explain to Mommy about the "circle from my bed" which was on the carpet. My parents moved my bed a little, probably thinking I wouldn't notice. Of course I did, and I showed Mommy the carpet indentation and explained how I figured out that "it was from my bed but the bed's not there anymore". She was very impressed at my sleuthing abilities.

Thursday, May 25th, 2000 (2 years, 20 weeks, 1 day): Mommy came back from New York today after a short trip. (The pilot said it was okay to fly now; I asked her before she went, just to be certain.) Daddy was outside grilling for dinner, and I went upstairs all by myself to brush my teeth and wash my hands. So, when Mom came home, she found me upstairs. I explained how "I can do EVERYTHING all by myself" not just brush my teeth. She said I couldn't drive a car by myself, so I asked her "Why not?"

Saturday, May 27th, 2000 (2 years, 20 weeks, 3 days): What a fun day we had today. We went to a place called Six Flags. It was not very far away and lots of fun. There were lots of rides to go on. I also met some interesting characters. We were there most of the afternoon and into the evening. I was very tired when we left so I did not notice that we were stuck in the parking lot for 2 hours when we went to leave. Daddy and Mommy talked a lot about it later though.

Sunday, May 28th, 2000 (2 years, 20 weeks, 4 days): I woke up and we were in a hotel. We stayed there so we could go back to Six Flags. I got to do more rides and saw a big water park which Daddy and Mommy said we could come back to some time.

Friday, June 2nd, 2000 (2 years, 22 weeks, 2 days): Another evening in the city. This time it was for a party for Aunt Lillian who graduated from someplace called MIT. We ate at a very nice restaurant where everyone sort of sat on the floor. As usual, I was pretty popular. I also got to see Great Aunt Julianna and Great Uncle David from Hong Kong for the first time in a long time.

Saturday, June 3rd, 2000 (2 years, 22 weeks, 3 days): What a day. I had to attend a birthday party over lunch at a gymnastics center. Daddy did not come because he had to coach his kids for soccer. Then in the afternoon we went to Maine. On the way, we picked up Nanna at Aunt Jean's house and she came with us. There was a party there for some of Mommy's relatives because they have been married for 25 years. That is a long time when you are not even 2 and a half! I went to the party for a short time and saw Great Great Uncle Norman and some other relatives, then I spent the rest of the evening with Nanna.

Sunday, June 4th, 2000 (2 years, 22 weeks, 5 days): I started the day swimming with Mom and Dad in the hotel pool. We joined Cousin Matthew and Uncle Kevin. We had lunch with them and Aunt Lucy and then Dad, Mom, Nanna and I went to New Hampshire for another party! This one was for Daddy's cousin who is going to have a baby soon. I helped her open some of her presents. Late in the afternoon, I said good-bye to Nanna and Daddy, Mom and I went home. What a party weekend it has been!
