Down Home on the Farm

This is Olivia the cow. She's a registered Jersey. She came to live with us last spring. She is a rather peculiar cow and has a personality all her own. She provides us with milk and cream that we make butter, ice cream and cheese with. It's a lot of work, but we get the satisfaction of knowing we can do it.

This is one of our barn cats. Isn't he a beauty? Someone dropped him off outside of the hardware in the near by village. I picked him up and brought him home. He's adapted quite well to life on the farm.

These are my ducks. They're my lawn ornaments. They're awful noisy. It's to cold for them outside, so we've given them a space in the calf barn. They seem to enjoy it there, but they have no water to swim in. It keeps freezing. They'll have to wait until spring for a bath...

This is a photo of some of our chickens. We have a Buff Orphington and a Barred Rock rooster. For hens we have an assortment of Rhode Island Reds, Partridge Rocks, Barred Rocks, Red Stars, Isa Browns and Light Brahmas. They all lay brown eggs.

Here are some photos of some of the other livestock we have. Yes, they all have names....Barney, Fred, Frank, Daisy, Stupid, Bert, Genius, Moose and Max. Moose and Max aren't included in the photos though. I had to draw the line somewhere!

Quite a few animals don't you think? We don't have photos of everything though. There are 7 other cats, 3 or 4 rabbits, 2 dogs and parakeet in a bird cage. That's really not a farm animal though is it?

Well thanks for dropping in, check back again from time to time. We hope you've enjoyed your visit
