“On A Mission From God”

And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  - II Corinthians 5:18-19

This devotion came about based on our church’s T-shirts with these words, “On A Mission From God”.  Sort of specific, yet sort of vague.  What I mean by that is:  It specifically says who we are on a mission from (God), yet it doesn’t say what that mission specifically is from God.

I believe it best that way, as we all are on a mission from God .  It may be raising Godly children; it may be being a pastor, or music minister, Sunday school teacher, or a nursery worker; it may be to live Christ to co-workers, etc.   But the bottom line is that ALL Christians are on a mission from God to minister Christ to those around us through different avenues and means.

My wife and I were both wearing our T-shirts while away on vacation, and on our way walking into a store a young man said, “Do you go to church around here? I know I need to find a church!”

We said, “no, but we knew a good church in the area”.

Then 10 minutes later a woman in the store commented on our shirts and said, “Do you go to church around here?” We answered, “no” and she said, “I wish my church had shirts like that!”

Then a couple hours later my wife and I were going for a walk and a man said, “COOL SHIRT”.   People, both saved and seeking, were touched by the shirts.

It will bless your life and many others if we live every day as “On A Mission From God”. There are many ways to share that with others, but the bottom line is summed up in the passage found in
II Corinthians 5:18-19 where it states God, “…hath given unto us the MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION…and hath COMMITTED UNTO US THE WORD OF RECONCILIATION…”  What a message of hope for the LOST.  That they can be reconciled to God through accepting the work of Christ on the cross (II Corinthians 5:21).

Have a Jesus blessed week,
