"Why Are Christians Sensitive About the Subject of Money?"

I believe there are many reasons why this is so.

1. Charlatans and crooks in the pulpits and televangelism.

2. False hope AND selfish motives for giving (giving to get). Giving so you will
receive back equal or 30, 60, 100 times more. Note: If that were true then
there would be a lot more millionaires and billionaires in the Body of Christ.

Mark 10:30 is the scripture people refer to for this teaching. Interestingly, the
“…with persecutions…” usually isn’t mentioned.  Please read the entire chapter for proper context.

3. People trying to make money on others with a wrong heart or with improper
ways. This happened to me 4 -5 years ago when I was receiving an e-mail
newsletter. It went from free to, I believe, $5.00 a month to continue receiving it. While BibleFood Devotional needs financial supporters, the devotional will always be FREE and support will be God-led and not required nor will you be pressured into giving.

4. Some people (even Christians) do fall into the terrible sin of the love
of money, which truly is the root of all evil.
Money is NOT the root of all evil; it
is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. Thus, they cling to it and make
excuses for not using it for eternal purposes.  See I Timothy 6:10.

5. For the praise of men. IF you give a certain amount, your name will be announced in the bulletin, newsletter, television show, etc. They have their reward - the praise of man and NOT God! See Matthew 6:1-4.

And the list goes on.

I pray that you all will seek your hearts and see if you fit into any of these categories. If so, ask the LORD to free you from these things and to have a proper heart in giving (cheerful, without pressure, and spirit-led).

Personally, this is not a subject I'm comfortable discussing and I may have
stepped on some toes. That's okay, I must speak God's heart and that is NOT always pleasing to some peoples' ears
(itching ears – II Timothy 4:3).

God bless you all and thank you for reading today's devotion.
