THE PETS

THis is my dog, Murphy. She is a yellow labrador retriever..... nicest dog ever but not a brain in her head.

This is Jacob (grey) and Paws (yellow and white with double paws) curled up sleeping together. Jacob is Derek's cat and can usually be found curled up in Derek's bed or sitting next to him watching TV. We adopted him from a cat shelter about 7 years ago. Paws belongs to Conor. He was a stray up for adoption at our old vets. Conor and I fell in love with him right away. He is a real outdoor cat and even goes out in blizzards. In winter he usually smells of woodsmoke. He has the most incredible purr ever. It lulls me right to sleep.

This is my cat, Bailey. He is a real grouch. No one can get near him except me. I got him from the same hospital we got Paws at. He had been adopted and returned a few times. I think he is really cool. He sleeps at my feet whenever I'm on the computer and he loves to play hide'n'seek with me around the house. He thinks he should eat 24/7 and it shows. He is also an attack cat. If I goof around with the boys or the dog and I start screaming, Bailey will come running to protect me and attack whoever is after me!!

This is Cooper, Colleen's cat. She was dumped off in a box at the animal hospital I work at a few summers ago. I have a hard time resisting orange cats! She loves to curl up in boxes. She is a very pretty cat but not very affecionate. She usually sleeps with Colleen every night.

This is our newest addition, Chester. He was abandoned on New Year's Eve day (1999-2000) outside the animal hospital. He was in an old box full of trash and a broken lamp. He was so cute I just had to bring him home. I gave him to Colleen since Cooper isn't very friendly. Chester is a sweetie. He's real laid back and very mellow. You can't tell from this picture but he has an incredibly long body. This picture was taken at the same time as Cooper's. The kids were playing Trivial Pursuit and each cat took half of the box from the game.

Here is a picture of all the cats except Nala at mealtime. Nala is a black and white cat who was feral when I became a foster mom to her and her 4 babies. I tamed all her kittens and they went to good homes but Nala has remained skittish even after 4 years. She eats up on the brick counter by herself.

This is a picture of 3 kittens I recently took in. They were dumped off at the animal hospital and since it was not the first bunch abandoned and they had already taken in 4 other kittens, the vet was going to put them down so I took them. Luckily they all have good homes now.

Here is another picture of chester in a box, only he doesn't fit quite as well in this one!

This is Pawsy curled up sleeping in his bed.
