A seal design by Stephen Kajdan, 11, of Clarksville has been chosen as the official seal of the Clarksville Sesquicentennial.

Clarksville Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution sponsored the contest which was open to all Johnson County residents over the past few months.

An award ceremony was held Aug. 6 at Clarksville City Hall with recipient, Stephen Kajdan, Mayor Marvin Vinson, Clarksville Chapter NSDAR commemorative events and seal design contest chairman, Dayna Hilton, and seal design contest co-chairman, Steve Rinke, participating in the ceremony.

Kajdan, who won a plaque and $50, will have his design on a commemorative flag and a postage stamp cancellation later this year. He is the son of Timothy and Nancy Kajdan of Clarksville.

Currently the Clarksville Chapter, NSDAR and the Johnson County Historical Society are working together with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company to get the Clarksville seal on a commemorative Coke bottle which, according to Johnson County Historical Society president, Lance Spanke, will be the first commemorative Coke bottle for Clarksville.
