Robert Ellmers died aged 20 in the service of his country. He was
awarded the Military Medal for acts of gallantry in the field and in the book
"Official History of NZ Efforts in the Great War" by Col H Stewart CMG DSO he is
mentioned on page 348 in the fight for Serre Road. He is buried in France.
