These cheat codes were created to assist in the development of MechCommander, to allow designers to skip over time-consuming spots and try a wide variety of approaches to the game without hacking into the code. They have not been thoroughly tested by our Quality Assurance staff, and several of them (osmium and CTRL-ALT-W in particular) are known to crash the game if they are overused.
If you use these cheat codes, you run the risk of crashing
MechCommander. You have been warned. Do not email me
about the cheats. If you still want to cheat, here's how:
Update MechCommander to version 1.8 if you have not already
done so. Create a file called ixtlriimceourl in the directory
where you installed MechCommander (most likely C:\Program
Files\FasaInteractive\MechCmdr), by making a copy of
windows.fit and renaming it. This is the secret file needed to
enable the cheats. If you're having trouble spelling the name
"ixtlriimceourl", try copying it from this page, or just download
this file. Note that your browser may try to add an extension to
the filename, you must delete it in order for the cheats to work.
