Rusty was our little boy-our first dog together-our buddy. Rusty came into our lives via a visit to the local pet store for a look and he just melted our hearts. He grew up quickly, being a rascal along the way. Ripping out plants, chewing everything in sight and digging large holes all over the backyard. He grew to be a fierce protector, even taking on Rottweilers just for good measure. Everywhere that we went he would be there too-on the couch, to the toilet or outside, he just wanted to be by our side. He was so alive, with so much energy.
But sadly one month before he was to turn 6 our little boy managed to slip a disc in his lower back and he became paralysed from virtually the waist down. Tragically nothing could be done and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have him put to sleep. It was the kindest thing to do but I can still see his smiling face as we all cried and then slowly the life in his eyes fading as he peacefully left this world. We will all mis him greatly, especially his best friend and companion, Brandi. WE LOVE YOU RUSTY!
