As much as I wish we were, we don't seem to be from the same Travis line, and my search continues. I am looking for Willett Travis, born in Putnam, NY, married to Esther N. I have no other information on them. I have a copy of his son's Death Certificate, Frank Fletcher Travis, b.01-07-1856 in Sommer Center, NY, d.08-23-1913 in West Haven, CT. Frank is my Gr-Gr Grandfather on my mother's side, and I'm at a dead end at the moment for information on them. Always happy to hear from other Travises. |
Michael Travis - 06/20/00 04:01:56 My Email:michaeltravis@home.com City: Warren, Michigan How did you find me?: Surfing | Comments: Great site. I am eager to see more! As the father of 5 Travis kids, I want to find out more about my/their genealogy, but I need help! My granddad was very quiet about his ancestors, and now he's gone. Here's what I know: My granddad, Bernis Travis (b. July 1905 in Muhlenberg Co. KY, d. 12/1/1981, m. Oct 1928 to Marie Johnson, a/k/a Marie Beliles) moved his family from Drakesboro, KY to Pontiac, Michigan in 1950. My father, Bernis Newell Travis (b. 11/18/1937, m. July 1957 to Agnes Loretta Hardin), was 12 at the time. Bernis & Marie had 1 daughter and 5 sons, one of whom died in infancy and was buried at Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro. Bernis Travis's parents were Jesse and Emma (Robinson) Travis. Bernis also had a sister, Oma Travis, but I have no further info. Any help you can provide would be most appreciated! |

His son Jesse was my Grandfather. I've never met either. Jesse married Mary Howe, one child Lynn, and then he married Letitia Jane Martin. Two daughters Cosetta and Gartha. Letitia died when Cosetta was t o. I've heard her referred to as the Indian. No one knows anything about her. My mother Florence, Cosetta's daughter has a picture. She could easily have Native American blood. Me I'm red headed, light skin and freckles. Your pages are great. Can't ait until you add more. |

It's beautiful and works so nicely! I have also been told that my TRAVIS line is related to the "Col." and to "cousin Merle". Many of my TRAVIS kin around here in Oklahoma are inclined to strum a few cords every now and then too. I have a distant cousin here in Oklahoma who is "Randy Travis". (I can't ever get him to answer his phone though, wonder why?) I have a picture of my uncle Ron TRAVIS that looks as though he could be that country singers twin brother! Maybe if "cousins-Me le and Randy" see this query, they'll get together and hire some bright genealogy research firm to come in and straighten us all out! I do believe that ALL the TRAVIS parents named their children by the same names! My twig of the TRAVIS family seemed to travel alot with the BUTLER, TAYLOR, LOWERY,LEE,TUCKER, SAUNDERS/SANDERS, and the BOYLE(S) families. I'm fairly new at this, so for right now I only know that most of my TRAVIS/BUTLER family came from Tenn. Pr bably Rutherford, Hamblin, Jefferson Co.'s. I have a great aunt that I know was born in Morristown, Tenn. I believe that before that they may have come from Va. and the Carolina's, but I don't know that to be a fact yet. I hope that some related TRAVIS family member will find me and help me out here with making a genealogy connection. Thanks for making this site! There isn't a whole lot on the "net" about the TRAVIS family. I have more detailed info on my TRAVIS br nches and twigs at: "The TRAVIS FAMILY Home Page" http:// familytreemaker.com/users/b/l/a/Debbie-A-Blakley/ e-mail me at: blakley@mci2000.com Warm regards to all my TRAVIS cousins!
