SCHNETKE
This is a quick non-yeast German recipe. Children love this one.
INGREDIENTS
1 c. milk
3/4 c. shortening
Self-rising flour
Mix ingredients, using enough self-rising flour to make a stiff dough that will roll out easily. Cut into oblong (2x4 inch) pieces and fold over once. Bake in a hot oven, 400 degrees, about 10 minutes. Use as quick bread. It may be spread with sugar and cinnamon before cutting, if desired.
