They have fabric by the metre. 100% cotton in various weights, some is quite heavy, but others light and soft. Also silks sometimes. Prices range from $20 to $38 a metre for hand printed fabrics. Beautiful designs, intense colours. They come from a variety of communities around Australia and stock changes.
This is the only outlet that regularly stocks aboriginal fabric that I have found in Melbourne. Lara, the very helpful assistant, also suggested I try the Community Aid Abroad Shop in the Walk Arcade, also in Bourke Street but my parking metre was running out. She did say that they send customers to her as they don't often have fabric.
The shop mainly sells clothing, jewellery and artefacts, the fabric is right down the back.
They are happy to do mail order using Visa, and can send small samples.
I bought a vibrant print called Bush Fruit Dreaming.
