The shop is owned by Jennifer Kingwell, who used to be one of the owners of Patchwork on Central Park. It has only been open a few weeks.
It is beautifully decorated, lovely light and airy feeling with a French feel about it. Lots of lovely fabrics like Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett etc, and she will be getting lots more in the coming few months. they also have a good space for classes.
(B)The staff are very helpfull, nothing is too much trouble A brand new embroidery shop has opened upstairs which is also fab.
********DIRECTIONS**********
You need to get off at Bentleigh on the Frankston train line. Once you leave the station and find yourself on Centre Road with the station behind you, travel left ( cross over the rail line) for about 4 blocks just after Oak St at 281 is Amitie.

There is masses of wool and embroidery kits, the fabric is limited and a NEW range is going to be released in a few weeks, the girl was sending out info to dealers.. so ASK!! don't just wander in and look, they don't lay things out well.

It's in Melb's northern suburbs has developed from being a $8 a metre shop to a well stocked patchwork shop with many ranges including fossil ferns etc. It has some $8 fabrics and some bargains up stairs but it nor competitive with normal patchwork shops with some discount when you buy meterage.
It has a wide range of furnishing fabrics for people making bags and an excellent range of evening wear and dance type fabrics
GJs - tram along Lygon St #1 or #22 get off at Stewart St (stop # 126). GJs is at the tram stop on the left.
******DIRECTIONS******
GJ's Discount Fabrics is very easy to get to from the City in Melbourne. Their address is 443 Lygon Street, East Brunswick, and you can get there by taking a tram along Swanston Street, heading North. Either a #1 East Coburg, or a #8 Moreland tram ... GJ's are on the corner of Stewart Street, which is Tram Stop #126. Hop off the tram and walk straight ahead (almost) into their door! This is a Zone 1 trip, and takes about 20-25 minutes. .

The range is traditional and pretty and there is now a good range of haberdashery and notions.
If visiting Melbourne, this shop is accessible by tram. Small shop with a range of designers. Caters for country as well as other styles. Usually has a large selection of fat quarters on display. Helpful service with fabrics and books. Runs a machine quiting service.(Haven't used this)

**********DIRECTIONS************* Darn Cheap Fabrics is also on the Frankston line. Get out at Glenhuntly, it is just a short stroll away. When you walk out of the station it is on your left hand side.
No. 1184 Glenhuntly Rd. Sometimes there is a great variety here and sometimes it is just so so. But if there is nothing here to please you, it is a very short stroll back to the station past a very nice cake shop that makes a good coffee if you need refreshing before you get back on the train to get yourself to Bentleigh.

Ringwood Station has two padesterian entrances one basically on the Maroondah Highway and the other on Station Street. Exit through Station Street. Turn right and walk the 20m or so to the intersection of Wantirna Road and Station Street. Turn left. (You can cross at the lights here if you want to, or later at the padesterian crossing). Walk about 300m (south) until you reach the store. The new location is at the south end of a block of assorted business and stores, opposite the Salvo's. There is a padesterian crossing with traffic lights.
The new store has lots of parking either behind or in the side street beside the store. There is timed parking out front. Closed all public holidays
