This new store has a moderate and growing stock of good quality 100%
cotton quilting fabrics at discount prices, at $5, $7.50 and $10 a metre,
with a metre minimum cut, and pre-cut FQs at $2.00 and $2.50 each!
The owner, Jaqui Wright, also has a large range of her own exquisite hand
dyed fabric , at $10 for a generous 100cm X 50cm piece, and will do a
special dye lot for bigger or different pieces should you want it.
Basic quilting classes will begin soon, and speciality and advanced
classes will be offered later depending on demand.
Jaqui carries a small range of those essential quilting notions, like rotary
cutters and blades, rulers, etc., that can be hard to find in the more
general fabric shops between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Jaqui intends
to offer mail order, with a special service to groups, soon.
2)
I visited Patchaholics at Burpengary (just north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway) for the first time this week and it is a wonderful shop - well worth a trip. Not a huge range of fabric, but big enough, and all of them are the useful sort. Prices seems to be mainly either $11.50 a metre or $15.00 a metre but they are the sort of quality which would be quite a few dollars more in some shops. In fact, I've seen a few of them for up to $21 in other shops!
The lady running the shop was pleasant and friendly and it was pleasure to shop there. I have no affiliations and did not even know it existed until 2 days ago but I do recommend a visit. It's in Station Road and a very helpful man in the post office pointed me in the right direction.

This shop is in an industrial shed and is crammed full of all types of fabric. He has a large range of very reasonably priced patchwork fabrics. He gets the 'last of' rolls at reduced prices, as well as boxes of remnants of various types of fabrics. His patchwork range is very good and he also has numerous wider width fabrics. You have to search and rummage about a lot, but that's half the fun of visiting his shop.

There are about 2000 bolts of fabric in the store, with more on the way and I found unusual fabrics there, a lot of which I hadn't seen in any other stores.
They currently sell embroidery items, and these are on sale at half price as they wish to concentrate only on patchwork fabrics and threads.
They offer classes starting early November and the girl who served me is very young (only mid 20s) and has been doing patchwork since she was 16.

1)Now for those of you who
haven't had the privilege of visiting this store, let me tell you
that if you're ever in the vicinity it is #1 on the list of things
to do - it's an Alladin's Cave. First sight of the shop is racks and
racks of clothes and other bits and pieces under the awning on the
footpath. You slowly make you way through this and enter into a
wonderland - you name it - they have it, everything from men's
nighshirts to tapestries to ornaments to a handbag that you could
kill someone with if you're not careful - it has a lethal stiletto
heel attached. I found quite of few of my 'must haves' here.
The shop is in two halves, across the road in the original bakehouse
is the other half and this is where I found my complimentary fabrics
for my 'love those fat quarters' panel - a future craft carrybag.
Another hour or so whiled away just getting lost in everything. The
staff here are wonderful and helped us with all our questions and
nothing was any trouble

1) Yungaburra is so small you can't mis it, literally a main street and that's
it. Just down from the pub!!!VBG I would particularly like to recommend this business.
Wendy is most helpful and is prepared to hunt all over for hard to get items.
(I don't have any connection with this business, but am just a very satisfied
phone customer).
2) 70km south west of Cairns on the Atherton Tablelands. Embroidery and patchwork
supplies, very helpful staff. Got some lovely Rajmahal Silk threads, then DH came
and said the bus was going so handed over my money when I spotted some lovely
quilts on the back wall, but just no time left. I wouldn't have minded being stranded
there overnight but I don't think the bus was going back that way for several
days.
