We're the Hoglund family. My husband was a professional field trial trainer and is currently an AKC field trial judge. Roy has trained hunting and trial dogs for the past 18 years. He's done training seminars for various people and clubs, i.e. "GSP Club,RENO", and "Sacramento Valley Weimaraner Club".
If you need information on how to start a puppy, how to steady a dog, and of course specific questions and problems, he'd be happy to answer any and all questions. Just call him. He's usually home late in the evenings. That means 7:30ish. He goes to bed early, so do NOT call after 9pm. He's usually up at 5am if you're a morning person, try then.
We also have puppies. I'll put some photos in shortly of each puppy. These puppies are out of Hoglund's Moxie Magic and FC/AFC Tonelli's Mr.October. If you would like to read more about the sire, Tonelli's Mr. October, go to Dogs of Distinction.
These pictures were taken March 1, 1998.
It's Steven Hoglund with 3 month old the Postman. Steven named
this puppy the Postman because he always delivers. That just means
he's a very nice puppy that always does as asked. Postman is going to make
someone a very loyal, true blue hunting dog. Training him steady to wing
and shot should be a breeze. This pup is intuitive and sharp. He'll
be hard to confuse. And he's loaded with instinct, an excellent nose, and
volumes of good looks. (Just like all my kids!)
The bottom picture is of the Postman on point. He's flash pointing a rag with scent on it. The rag is attached to a fishing rod.
Trainers sometimes use this technique to determine just how much instinct and talent a puppy has without taking it to the field.
Pretty intense for 3 months.
